I COMPLETELY disagree, but of course this is a matter of personal preference to a large degree...

    WOW, comparing the 996 interior to a Corvette!!! I think that's a new low...CONGRATS!!!

I will concede that the material quality in the 997 is better(although the 996 is NOT subpar) but IMHO the design of the 996 is superior to the 997. Personally, I wish Porsche had chosen to evolve the 996 interior rather than change it with the 997...

    997, without question.

As stated above.. the interior and other refinements make a much bigger difference than a few more HP.

I had an early 996 (1999) the interior was simple, different from the 993s, but certainly not fancy. later I had a 2002 996 Turbo, same basic interior lay out, but if I remember right it was a bit more fancy.

    I have a 997 C4S and have used a 996 C4 and 996 Turbo extensively.

Well as far as fun factors go I don't think that you can go wrong with either of these two cars.

I can tell you that typically the GT3 is a bit easier to learn and really explore the outer limits of, where as the GT2 tends to be more of a hand full.

If you have a lot of time in REALLY fast turbo cars, then go with the GT2. If not though, remember that there is a reason that the GT2 is called the Widowmaker. It does not forgive driver errors nearly as much as the GT3 does.

Overall I think that most people consider the GT3 to be the better driver's car, but this is really quite subjective and depends greatly on what you desire the car to do. Ride quality on either of these cars is rather harsh so be prepared for that. While I would not hesitate to take either for a extended drive, I am not sure that I would be able to talk the wife into that with either of these excellent cars.

Just my thoughts on the question.
