It doesnt happen everytime , but it happened more than once or twice to be a coincidence.

After a regular drive ( with some pushing ) , when exiting the car, i can smell a burnt odor. Not a Brake pads or clutch smell though.
    The car has 2700 miles.

Anyone has any idea ? Dealer said if the smell continues for more than 500 miles to pring her in..

My father has the same car and the same problem. I have driven it several times and more often than not, the car has the burnt smell after driving.
I have no idea what the problem is though. He hasn't brought it in to get looked at yet.
Just to compare, my fathers car has about 4000 miles on it.

From what I know of it´s kinda normal on new 997´s, no need to worry.

From some research I managed to dig up that it could be:

Rustproofing/undercoating spray winds up on the exhaust
The flat engine configuration manages to let oil slip into the cylinders when the car is sitting so you get some burning oil smell.

Try to keep in mind if the smell gets less and less noticeable every 500 miles or so. Hopefully the smell will be long and gone by the time you reach 10k miles.

    Hi Andrew.....

The cosmoline placed by the manufacturer on the exposed metal parts will burn off eventually.....that is probably what it is.

Coating to protect against rust and corrosion. There's a 1957 Plymouth buried in a time capsule in Tulsa, OK completely covered in the stuff.. They are going to dig it up next year..

Catalytic converters breaking in. At least that's what it was for my car and a few others I know.

Nice going with the C4S BTW, very smooth.

How are you liking Chicago? How much of the year will you be in the States?
