Ranger also had a number of runs in his earlier C5 Z06 in the high 11's. It is not unexpected that he would be able to put a C6 Z into the high 10's.... He is an excellent drag racer and both of his Z's were stock down to the tires... He does represent about the best that you are probably gonna see in a stock Corvette, and I doubt that any "magazine drivers" are going to be close to him. It does tell you what the car is capable of though.
I belive you are mistaken. His old car made ~1150rwhp on alcohol. As of March 2008, his car made 820RWHP on 116 octane. That's hardly pump gas. His car runs a 3.6 motor, it's impossible to get that much power out of 3.6L on pump gas - physically impossible.
Hell I dont even know if most tt vipers will do 1100rwhp on 92 octane pump gas. You can get C16 out of a pump at your local drag track lol. Pump gas IMO is 92-93 not 100 or whatever. So these cars will beat UGR's 7 second 6 speed record holding viper? Dont think about it to hard cuz the answer is no. Theres also that boost logic supra driven by sw with less cubic inch then your porsche that put down 230mph in the standing mile.
I am sorry but 1200RWHP on pump gas on a 911 motor is simply impossible. Even over on 6speed a lot of guys are calling BS on the number because he refuses (apparently) to back it up or have it proven by people making sure it's legit. It's just a bunch of BS and I am not surprised based on who it's coming from. Anyone who seriously think a 911's 6-cyl motor is going to be making over 1200RWHP on 93-octane pump gas honestly just does not know what they are talking about.
Probably a home brew of pump gas. I used to brew my own for autocrosses and dyno runs. 93 oct. a couple gallons of Toluene 2-3 oz. of Acetone a tsp. of ATF for lubrication. You can't excede 30% Toluene without having to preheat the tank though.
Lol touchy touchy! Relax chief, Im on your side and I actually agree with everything you said except above quote. Its just that your comment sounds like just because one can't afford a certain car, one shouldn't have an opinion on it. When I first joined f chat, there was this guy Mahwon that I got into it with. He would constantly point out the fact that non owners opinions of ferraris weren't as valid as that of actual ferrari owners. Surely you must agree that the logic in that is flawed. Oh and I didnt incorrectly identify your avatar. I never stated who your avatar is. Ive read the comic in its native french as well as the Swedish translation. Your avatar is the chief in the village. In English his name would be Vitalstatistix, in French Abraracourcix and in Swedish Majestix. It seems like each translation alters the name of the character in order for the pun to work. I.e Idefix=> Dogmatix etc. -Peter P.S In all honesty I had to look up his English name P.P.S Did you by any chance feel like I ripped a page out of your book? =)
A car is going to need atleast twice the cubic inch of that 911 to but down 1200rwhp on pump. Thats not pump gas then.
Quite honestly I don't even care LOL, i'm happy tearing up the tracks in my RUF GT2 I don't need silly hp numbers!
Those cars wont even touch a TT Viper. That Boost Logic Supra may run 230mph but have you seen the specs on it. its running on full boost, race fuel and drag slicks. Far from streetable. 1+ Lets get back on track guys .
Reagardless of the stigma the corvette carries among most f and p car owners, Ill gladly put one in my garage. Ill even be more happy with a zr1. -Peter PS Bump!!!!!!!!!!!
This just in: A 200K car is faster than a 70K car. I'm sure Porsche owners feel safe at night because the GT2 is faster than the Z06. They only have to worry about the ZR-1 & GT-R Vspec.
The GT-R is already faster than the GT3 & Turbo. Removing 300lbs, adding a few hp and getting better aero won't make it competitive with a GT2?
I think he is arguing semantics... ie. Porsche owners dont need to worry since they are still driving an "elite" Porsche... As far as track numbers, acceleration runs, etc. Yes, they have quite a bit to worry about.
I went back and reviewed the C&D test and looked at the critical comments about both Vettes-clunky gearshift and numb steering. What does Chevy do for '08? Address both of those weaknesses, to the point that now the biggest gripe are the seats. Chevy to their credit has been paying attention; witness the racing success of the Vette. I've never owned a Vette but I have to tell you that a base Vette with the Z51 is an incredible car-regardless of price.
