Assume daily driver or primary driver. Track course trained driver but not tracking the car.

Pluses or minuses of the Porsche versus either Ferrari from those of you who know?

    Thanks.

Out of those choices, I'd pick either the Camaro or the Mustang. Both pack American V-8's, either can do the quarter in 15 seconds flat, and they handle like they're on rails!!

Daily driver? 997 GT3. Simple; it's got a warranty. If you have other toys, no reason to mess with a car that can't be repaired in a day or two due to minor issues of simple wear and tear.

    I agree with Kenny(hi K!)
gt3 is the way to go.
360 draws too much attention as a daily and is hard to park because of that. Would be my overall choice if you have private parking. Gt3 is awesome but will never have that ferrari sound. Might be faster etc but the styling beauty of the 360 and the ferrari sound will never leave you wanting.
550 will cost more in maintanance, but is not so hard to park and leave and sounds awesome with huge torque and style but not as practical. I found the 550 was a bit too big and heavy for the mountain roads that I live with.
gt3 is a great all around car and fun to drive and yes, the warranty.....
Nice choices though, good luck and post up some pics of the winner.

For a daily driver, another vote for 997 GT3. Hassle-free operation and relatively low key in the right colors (excepting the rear view though). Ferrari's tend to draw too much attention for daily driving, though I think a 550 might be better than a 360 in that regard. Also the 997 GT3 is getting raves for its driving performance mixed with daily usability - Porsche fixed some of the chassis/suspension dynamics problems of the 996 GT3 and made it more livable while still doing a better job in tracking and responsiveness.

GT3 is the best track car by far of the 3. However it´s alot stiffer then a 360 or 550 and it is LOUD. You will be tired of it as a daily driver after a while imo.

I would probably take it anyway since it´s a newer car.

Sill why have any of the 3 as a daily driver ? Get 997 turbo or Audi RS6 as a daily =)

LW, I have owned more than 10 Porsches, most recently selling my 06 4S to move back to a 360 Spider. If FORCED to choose between the 3 for a daily driver, I would definitely take the Porsche but beware of the following: If you are a guy who really cares about the look and condition of his car, it will be difficult to even allow the Porsche to take on the W&T of a work commute, trips to the Mall, and an excursion to your local movie theather. Thus, I agree with many of the others who replied. Don't buy any of them for a daily driver.

    Good luck,

    Joe

Agree with above. Having had a 360, and currently having a turbo with a gt3 type suspension, I wouldnt want to drive either every day. After a weekend in either the 360 or turbo, I am so ready to drive the Range Sport.

You might want something ultra comfortable, but also fun, like the Range Rover Sport Supercharged, or an E55/RS6.

    I own A 1999 Porsche 911 (not a GT3) and had a 2003 360 Modena (now a F430 F1) and have driven a 550.

For a daily driver you cannot beat the Porsche. it is drop dead reliable and while nice looking only draws attention from people who know what it is. it is a very satifying car to drive! I assume you will be buying the 997 model. The 996 model (what I own) chasis would feel a little dated compared to the 360. If you are buying a 996 model it is a closer descision but I would still go Porsche.

My 360 was bullet proof and my Friends 550 (12000 miles) was also, but the alum body would be expensive to repair if you had an ops. Scheduled maintenace on the Ferrari is a little higher, and unscheduled is much higher.

Good luck on what ever you pick.

I just took delivery of my 997 GT3 RS. It is not even comparable with a 360 or a 550. It is several generations ahead. Unfair to compare new with vintage. I loved my 550 but it is a classic car compared with the 599. I will leave my 599 parked for a while as the 997 GT3 RS is mega. I imagine a GT3 is not that different from the RS although I suspect that the single mass flywheel and 44mm wider track make a difference. As a daily driver, the new 997 GT3 must win hands down over 2 aged Ferraris

GT3, except for ride height/clearance concerns. Loooong front overhang combined with low lip (4" off the ground) = difficulties with driveways, gas stations, speedbumps, pretty much any place there's an inclined transition from the roadway to a parking lot. Have to take a lot of stuff at an angle to prevent scraping.

The 997 GT3 is worse in this respect than the outgoing model.

If not the GT3, then the 360. They've proven exceptionally robust and great cars.
