guys, need a little help here. i have to admit, i've been drawn to the 997 GT3. for roughly $120,000 i can get a phenomenal car that will hold its own on the street and track! 415 horsepower and i can get ceramic brakes. however, in saying all this, i know its no Ferrari and will never have that magic, as we all say. resale values are incomparable, although i see that 996 GT3's hold pretty good. what do think?

The 997 GT3 is going to be a hell of a car. The 996 GT3 was essentially even with a C.S. in performance. Top Gear has a great comparision of the two, BTW.

The 997 GT3 will develop 415 H.P. and will be lighter than a 997 TT (I think by at least 350lb)! It will be very fast; and faster than a C.S.

I am getting the first GT3 at my dealership and I can't wait!

As far as the "fun factor", nothing beats a Ferrari, IMO. Ferrari is magic!

Drive em and make up your own mind. Don't listen to bench racers who read car magazines. All I can say is that my best driving experience ever was a day spent at the track in a CS. In fact, I'm leaning toward selling my street cars and getting a Challenge car.

i just gave a deposit for a gt3 and would be a hard choice vs cs if price independent. cs obviously has style and exoticness but p has practicality, warantee.

How often will you drive it is the biggest question. Often? Porsche. On occasion (including track days)? CS.

I see 996 GT3s with low miles selling for 30k under list...not what I would call "pretty good". That said, I like the GT3 a lot, and the 997 version is bound to be a great car, lacking only in the indefinable "passion" department.

thanks for all the feedback guys, i do appreciate it. there are pros and cons to both but can't figure out what's the right move. everything being equal, i think most would agree that the Stradale is the right move. however, i still see some dealers asking $199,000 for the Ferrari, whereas i could get a new car with warranty and rock-solid durability in the Porsche. i know this has been an age old debate but once i get behind a GT3, would i still be longing for the Stradale?

The GT3 RS is a lot better comparison to the Challenge Stradale. I would get the CS any day of the week, but that is just. You can't beat the beauty of that car with any modern Porsche IMO.

if it is just for cruising , buy the CS . if you want to be a track god , buy the GT3 . in australia there are a lot of go fast bits for porsches and mechanics but we are limited on go fast parts for ferraris or people who will spend the tme and effort to set your car up right and make it quicker

For roughly $80,000 you can get a phenomenal car that will hold its own on the street and track. Over 500 horsepower, and you can get better brakes if you don't like the stockers. It's not a Ferrari or a Porsche & it doesn't have any magic. Z06, ok, flame on, bye bye.

    Gary,

Just for a reality check....what is a 30,000 mile Stradale selling for as a percentage of it's sale price???

I wasn't referring to 30,000 mi GT3s at $30k under, more like 8,000 mi. At equal mileage, the CS is going to retain a MUCH higher percentage of its MSRP. I don't personally know of prices for either car at 30,000 mi.

gulp!i hate my own answer already.....
    if you want a "hard core special" from the HOUSES of the PRANCING HORSES;
go for a 997 GT3.if it's anything as good as the 996 GT3;this is one PHENOMENAL car!better balance and tuning sensitivity than a f360 stradale
or gallardo piton;but if it's just mainly road use go for a porsche 997 turbo or
f430 or gallardo SE.great for the road;good enough for the track!
