GT3 RS (March 2007 US Deliveries)
Actually, as someone pointed out, no one here has driven either. The 997tt is supposed to be much more a focused driver's experience than the 996tt, so to compare the new GT3 vs the new 997tt is impossible.
Looks like theres a winner, the GT3. Which is also what R&T recommends. It's as fast as the 996tt as previously mentioned, and offers a better driving experience, plus it's cheaper!
If you havent decided yet on the Turbo or GT3, that means you wont be seeing Either car until atleast November, probably even later if you're not already on a list. I say again.. go for the GT3 RS, its the price of the Turbo, but its exclusivity should keep its resale value up much higher than the Turbo. US Deliveries for the GT3 RS start March 2007. Call a dealership and get on a list quick, most dealers STILL dont even know the GT3 RS has been officially announced. If you call soon enough, you'll guarantee yourself a car by next Spring. Remember, 415 PORSCHE Hp. That means reality is probably more like 425-430. Porsche HP figures quoted are the minimum power output they accept when an engine is tested before allowing it to be used. Average hp is more. Porsche has always been very conservative in published hp figures, unlike most other companies. GT3RS.... Yummie! Terry
Well now that the new GT3 is out what do you think? I'm not looking for what you would rather have, but for the differences. Steve
I drove a GT3 and a Turbo and went for the Turbo! The main reason - The GT3 is a more track focussed car whereas the Turbo is daily driver focussed. As a daily smoker, the Turbo makes more sense with it's easily exploited and tunable power with 4WD. And living in a country where it rains for half of the year, 4WD traction is a boon.
