Why do porsche owners rather have a 997 carrera s over a 997 turbo. Is it becouse of the pure performance of a porsche being able to hear the engine sound at full throttle, and the 997 turbo just hearing a turbo wistle?

Well, it IS cheaper. ;) Also, the wing is a bit more aggressive on the turbo. Just depends on your priorities.

I am not a owner but have driven quite a few different variants of 911's. I love the pull of the Turbo's but truthfully it is too much for the street and I find the N/A cars more enjoyable to drive. I find you are able to use more of the car and it just makes for a greater overall experience. Turbo's are great for 20 minutes for that pure power rush but overall I would take a C2S.

I haven't had a chance to drive a GT3 or GT2. I feel the GT3 would be the ultimate sports car.

    cost is a big issue....

and frankly, as much fun as too much power is, you just can't use it very often on the street (same goes for the GT3/GT3RS/GT2, etc).

plus I like the simpler looks and less complicated mechanicals of the standard Carrera.

one could change the pipes on a turbo 911 to give a louder sound!

Because a turbo is AWD, and AWD should be banned in a sports car. Now a turbo converted to RWD, that's a different story.

I guess thats why they make the GT2(same setup you mentioned, RWD Turbo). The problem with that car is that its too much power for most drivers to handle.

a c2s is lighter and in most driving situations i prefer the non turbo. Sound didnt have anything do w/ it, at least for me anyway.

The pricing is a big issue. A fully loaded turbo can push over $175k in cabrio form. There are so many other car choices at that price point.

A lot of people don't like the way a turbo handles with the 4wd compared with a 2wd Carrera S.

Also, a turbo doesn't really sound all that great even with an aftermarket exhaust system. Just a lot more hissing and raspy noise. A naturally aspirated GT3/RS just sounds so much better and is such a good drivers car.

If I were only cruising on the freeways than a turbo could make a lot of sense.

Anxiously waiting to see the new generation 991/998 C2s Cabriolet...

If early reports are true,... a Panamera inspired interior and more rear seat legroom... this may be a realistic alternative for a nice daily driver capable of accomodating the family.

I have owned two new 911's and currently own an older 2002 Turbo 911 which I bought at mecum auction a month or so ago.

Setting the cost aside the reason I stayed away from Turbo is the all wheel drive. It made the car stiff to drive compared to the base model. The base car is a wonderful automobile.

The only reason I bought my current turbo was an implulse buy at the auction.

As someone pointed out they are very quick but in my mind that is what throttles are for. So I think it is a plus

Not many cars quicker a Mosler for sure and maybe a ZR1.

    Good luck whatever you buy
