just read their review of new tt which was done at a watkins glen track day. i was mildly surprised they liked they car at all (usually go more for the prius end of spectrum). no surprise at the fact that the car got up to 155 on pit strait. (the back straight is even longer but didnt mention speeds there)

was then shocked by fact that it did 155 with the writer driving and not a porsche pro!!! i bet this was the 1st time any ny times writer ever drove any car on any track. i have trouble getting over 120 and i usually drive in either intermed or advanced groups.

despite the heavy weight, the tt must be one easy to drive beast. cant see any downside since the electronics can be shut down for those who choose to do so. the factory driver said a tt with slicks is as fast as his gt3rsr which is insane

It may be easy to drive, but I've done 130+ in an M-B SLK230 and near that in my 328 (top down/off in both cases), so I would hope the uber-911 could do 155 with any joe at the wheel.

I'm sure it can. If my lowly Boxster can acheive 157 top down with a twenty year old behind the wheel, the new turbo should be able to hit the 193 mph that they claim it can. Porsche is usually very honest about the numbers they post for cars.

not sure if you guys are getting my point. journalist got to 155 on the pit straight of watkins glen race track which is not easy to do. not about the car's ultimate top speed at all.
