    im starting to plan for my next ride. needs to be more of an all season car than f which would be my fav. 997tt would be obvious choice but starting to hear will be a big jump up in $ and weight from 996tt without much more performance. could g car fill the bill?

    will lease on tt be much lower even if stickers are similar?

    can g be used all year 4 short suburban commute in ny?

    the new porsche 4wd system is lighter and works better than the old system...the 997 chassis is far better than the 996 has are all the internals of the drive train....i also dont believe the rumors that the new tt will only have 420hp...it will be closer to 450 on the base turbo....the g and tt are both great cars, just very different..the g is more exotic, harder to get in and out of and less storage space...but it will have the better sounding engine by far and will the cool factor...but its very low to the ground so one ny pot hole can cause some serious wheel, tire, under body damage...also,i think the porsche will hold up better to high milage with cheaper and less maintanence..........both would be a great way to show for work!!!!!!!!!

    I'd love to have a Gallardo as a snow car. As to leases, unless the law here in NY got cleaned up recently, Chase, who did cheapo leases for Porsche, doesn't do a real lease in NY anymore- but more like a balloon deal, and the numbers are far higher than they were in the days when they did a traditional lease. The reason has to do with the treatment of leases in NY- the lessor can be held liable for the driver's negligence, as the true owner of the car- in a finance deal, for some reason, the bank is not as exposed.
    Also, keep in mind that the trick with these leases is the residual- and a new car will, believe it or not, be cheaper to lease than a used car with a lower retail price. Just make sure you can walk away at the end of the lease, without having to make up the difference if the car is worth less than the residual.

    If ur looking for practicality, really theres no choice here the porsche!!! I love the gallardo, but just the 4wd alone isnt enough, no trunk, presumably more maintanence, better p car dealer network. Also, I think the porsche will be faster by a good bit, and it can be modded if not!

    Even on top of that, I've heard that it really isn't "enough" to be daily-driven.

    I was just at Champion the biggest Porsche dealership and my friends there told me that the 997TT will have close to 500hp. The list is already 150 people and thats a long waiting time, even after deliveries start maybe a year from now.

    thanks so far.

    the more i think about it though, my main concern might end up being 'value'. p could be about 150k when all is said and done with ridiculously over priced options. g may end up discounted in that neighborhood.

    opinions on this?

    Get the gallardo and worse case scenerio pick up a "beater" for the snow days. Leases of new "beaters" can run as low as 2 or 3 hundred a month.

    Yet if you only want to have one car? I'd still opt for the Gallardo..

    Audi's ownership has really made the cost of maintaince minimal on the Gallardo.

    You only live once so get the car YOU want.
