The SSC guys say their car is de-tuned for reliability and there is plenty more power in it. Their claim is that they can go faster once someone beats their record. But these cars are going so fast it is getting nearly impossible to find enough road, or track, to reach their top speed. I wish they would find a more exciting record to compete for now that they can only beat each other by one or two miles per hour. R.
