Hi! Had a pretty bad day at the track this past weekend - take a look at the photo. Looks like I killed my 360. Anyway, the good news was that I had track insurance and the claim process proceeding.

As there will likely be no repairing the vehicle, I am looking to fill the garage slot and am looking at a 2009 F430 Spider (you can see it at www.wideworldferrari.com).

My question is do you think there will be any significant movement in 430 pricing with the 458 coming? On one hand I am itching to get a convertible back, on the other hand, I wonder if I should wait to see what happens...

    Thoughts?

likely the 430 will hold until the 458 starts to become easily available on the used market.

Please keep us posted on the insurance details if you are 'ok' with that in a public forum. I'd be really curious if they treat you fairly and most of all, I wonder about the amount of money they would ask of you to 'buy' the car from them (assuming that is how this shakes out).

Heck, you might consider another 360 and use this car for spares! Or cobble the cosmetic panels with some spit and glue (AKA fiberglass) and make a track car out of it....

It looks like the primary components of the car are still intact.

    Best Luck,
    Vincenzo

It doesn't seem that bad... Maybe $30-40K... If the damage is all I see in the picture...
Thank God you're alright and good luck with your search for replacement...

Ouch! Sorry about your mishap. Good thing that you're ok. Did the airbags deploy?

Oh man... two threads in a row where people killed their cars.

How much extra $$ is track insurance? Thankfully you had that coverage.

The air bags did NOT deploy which I found surprising. The Ferrari dealer told me that the parts list they are building alone seems like it will be a total loss before they even add in the labor. Both door panels shifted back and damaged rear panels; the structural strut underneath by the rear axle fractured, and there is clearly frame damage.

On the positive side, the engine and interior look great!

I will keep you all posted on the track insurance result. I used to purchase event-specific day policies from Lockton Affinity. I found an annual policy that covered by for up to 20 events that was significantly cheaper (once you decide you are doing more than 6 events per year).

God Bless man, glad you are ok! I can't believe that the airbags didn't deploy as it looks like a significant front end impact. Did the car have multiple impacts? Thanks goodness you are alright, good luck with the track insurance. I have always been curious as to whether or not it works or was even available as I could not find it anywhere when I was thinking of buying it a couple years ago.

    Keep us posted.

Not to be a vulture but here goes anyway --
Is it a tan interior and do you have race seats? Yellow so probably black but have to ask. If so, and it is totaled, interested in selling them to me at a reasonable price?

Glad you weren't hurt and had insurance as well.

Glad you are OK, but I have to wonder what it would take to deploy the airbag!!

Thanks for the well wishes from everyone! I too am glad everyone is ok! The car hit into the wall, spun, hit the rear (minor in comparison the front) and then came back to the front again. I am really shocked about the air bags - so was the dealer.

The adjustor is supposed to visit the shop today or tomorrow and hopefully I should have the final results of how the insurance is dealt with - I will keep everyone posted.

The interior is black with yellow stitching (and in surprisingly good shape). The funny part was I put the top up when I dropped it off at the body shop and the top worked flawlessly.

I am not sure what will happen with the car once the insurance processes the claim; I believe they will take possession of it to salvage and try to recoup some of the dollars, but if it does become a possibility to buy it back I will let anyone interested know.

The only thing for sure, is that all modern Ferraris will be going down in price - that is just the way it is - huge depreciation. Just be thankful you are not buying a car in the mid 2000s - up to a $100,000 premium for current cars if you were not on the "lists" at a dealer. Perfect used 360's were going for $220,000, 430s for over $300,000, Stradales for $200,000 plus. Just look at the Scud - 2008s listed for say $300,000 new and now what - $240,000. If you are worried about and can't handle big depreciation, buy something else. I know, I have bought all the above and more

Things still seem to be progressing correctly with the insurance company. In the mean time, the Ferrari bug was biting, so I pulled the trigger on a 2009 F430 Spider...Dealer is putting on the clear bra and doing a few other prep items...should be picking it up either Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday morning. This should make for a nice looooong weekend.
