This thing is SICK!!! I think it's for sale for 80g's: http://www.discovery-automotive.com/portal/modules.php?name=Static_Content&id=4
Hehe. The ultimate sleeper wouldn't look like a car thats moderately quick to begin with But yeah, that is one hell of a nice car.
I don't believe the car is putting out 1,000hp (as they say on the page). Its a lot harder than it looks, and if I had a dollar for every time I've read the ol' "we ran it on low boost, on 5 year old lawnmower gas, on a humid day on the dyno with no correction factor, with the carpet stuck under the gas pedal, and 2 fuel injectors not working, and half the plugs removed, and no water injection, and blah blah blah and STILL put down 500RWHP!" I'd be rich. I notice that EVERYONE who EVER dynoes their car or races it will tell you what it did, but immediately follow up with a list of excuses and reasons why their performance was much lower than it could have been, if only things went just a little better. A 1000hp (or 800hp for that matter) car is only an 800hp car when there is an 800hp dyno sheet. 25% driveline losses and on and on don't count - what it puts to the wheels is what it puts. I don't see them picking up 400hp pushing the boost up. Dont get me wrong, the car is very nice and may make the numbers claimed, but I never believe what I read about dyno numbers unless they are backed up with facts. Just TOO much embellishment/lying/optimistic-reasoning going on in this game to trust what guys say they can/will/would make.
Looks like a trial and error of the shelf parts assembly project. Not sure whether there was any real engineering going on. Let see.....the latest MB SL65 puts out over 600hp and that is a supercharged 6 liter engine. So if thesee guys can achieve a 1000hp with a M5 engine they should definitely go into the BMW tuner business and give Dinan a run for his money.
The 65 is twin-turbo, not supercharted. This M5 made 600rwhp, and untill it makes more, that's still impressive. But the proof will be in the pudding (and in the driveline!!!)
To even go a step further, what it puts to the street is what it puts to the street. I love that old joke: what does a 400hp Supra have in common with an 800hp Supra? Timeslips!
They are a low key business...not interested in competing with Dinan. They work on whatever they want...high end cars for demanding, wealthy customers. I don't doubt their claims for a second as most of you guys seem to.
