I overheard some older gentlemen the other day discussing a motorcycle that one of them had bought. As he was describing it, something caught my attention and didn't make any sense to me. I was hoping some of the bike guru's here could enlighten me.

I didn't get the name, but I did get that he claimed it had a rotary engine. This is a sport bike. He also claimed it was a 198hp motor and shaft driven.

Anyone ever heard of this bike or was he blowing smoke?

wow, I had no idea the rotary was used that much. I knew it had aviation and automotive applications, but was clueless about the rest.

I didnt even think of googling, sorry. Im in quite a bit of pain between the ankle and the neck in addition to being tired. yay. Thanks for the info.

The Hercules from the 1960s or early 1970s was a rotary; to heavy to be competative but extremely well made.

Far as i know, this is the only one that was widely (relatively) sold, others rare.

I thought the Suzuki RE5 was the best selling rotary motorcycle.
