When you think about all the tech in F1...surely a couple of leaf blowers would work better than these FIA approved broomsticks?

I saw that and thought....”what the hell did they pick those up at an Amish sale?”
It seems so weird to be using something the looks like the broom from the Wizard of Oz to clean and F1 track !

Btw if we have any Amish F1 fans here nothing against you !

I’m not sure this is the most important F1 topic of the moment! :)

Leaf blowers make one hell of a noise, and they usually blow crap all over the place and make more work than they are worth. I have a leaf blower and never use it.

I have a lot of brooms; laugh all you want, but using them well gives a decent work out.

And they are nearly silent. You can use them whenever you feel like it.

It's the Chinese GP. Have you seen the team's paddock area. Yeah, I get it, it's F1 but just by looking at the brooms and team paddock area, China wants to "emulate" its Zen like or Buddhism philosophy throughout the track.

    I respect that.

Isn't that the Japanese flag on the vest? Doesn't it say 2017 Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix?

    How many marshals are located around a race track? - 50?, 100?, 200?, 500?, 700?

(Just for the record, according to this site: http://www.msaevents.co.uk/bgpmarshals.php there will be @ 1000 officials and volunteer marshals for the 2018 British Grand Prix. Considering the size of race tracks, and the need to get assistance to incidents almost immediately, I would suggest that a good portion of that 1000 will be marshals)

    So:

How much do leaf blowers cost?
    How much do brooms/brushes cost?

How much does it cost to maintain/repair/replace leaf blowers?
How much does it cost to maintain/repair/replace brooms/brushes?

How environmentally friendly are leaf blowers?
    How environmentally friendly are brooms/brushes?

How reliable is a rarely used leaf blower?
How reliable is a rarely used broom?

How much storage space do leaf blowers require?
How much storage space do brooms/brushes require?

What advantage does a leaf blower really have over a broom/brush?

The audience that Liberty Media want to target aren't used to loud noises in F1 - Interferes too much with the music coming out of their earbuds! ;)

If it was a formula e race, would they use electric leaf blowers?

Methinks that is called a besom. Very old school! I'm sure Bottas wishes they had a couple more of those at Baku...T

Yes, sir. The golden age of F-1. Sound was intoxicating.
