I've amassed a number of boxes showing up at the front door over the past couple of weeks, as you can see, and the crown jewel of the project just arrived at the end of this past week, so it's go time!

30k belt service kit from Ricambi, and a bunch of other 'while you're in there' and ancillary bits from Eurospares. Both of them were a pleasure to deal with.

A set of Tubi test pipes

...and after wrestling with the inevitable, the Capristo Sound 3. The loud one, hehe. :)

I had done an exhaustive amount of digging on the exhaust ;), and found one mention of what seemed to be a unique feature on the Capristos that I had not previously been aware of between the standard valve-less offerings, and the electronically valved Twin-sound models. It is a manually adjustable pair of valves that can be had on the standard Capristo, allowing some user adjustability of the sound level... not quite as trick and on-the-fly convenient as a key fob button, but with a quick adjustment (an allen and crescent wrench), a very handy feature. It made going for the full Sound 3 leap quite a bit easier.

I had reached out to a few sources to confirm, and Mike from Yellow Compass was one of the first to get back to me. His pricing was excellent, with messages coming back around 11pm that night that he would check into the valve question. He got back to me a short bit later (Mike, do you sleep?) confirming that I could have the Sound 3 with or without the manual valves... both being available. I called him the next day, did the deal, and had this gorgeous piece of welded art at my front door within a matter of days. Could not ask for more, great guy to deal with, and would highly recommend. Thanks again, Mike!

All of the parts about to make their way onto the 348, unboxing the Cappy, and the hand-adjustable valves... Cannot wait.

    Pretty cat.

    Nice pile of goodies too.

Please do post a decent sound file when you get a chance. Will be interested to see how it compares to my Tubi.

Please tell me more about the 'while you are in there'/ euro spares parts and how many miles on your car. I am about the same situation as you about ready to go, waiting on a back-ordered water pump from superformance. Making sure I've though of everything. I'll be in pretty deep already on mine doing the roller to ball timing bearing update (1990 TS, 17K)

Its a low maintenance 348..it already loves him ;)

The neighbors will never forgive you. On the other hand, every tifosi within 500 miles will grin with excitement when you fire it up. You're going to love that Cappy!!

(And of course the belt service kit too.... but I already knew that ;) )

I'm at 37k mi (1992), so in addition to the standard service kit, I'm planning to proactively replace the timing chain sprocket bearings, and verify condition of the timing chain and oil pump chain tensioner pads, with anticipated replacement. Both areas had the factory updated design/material, but anticipating replacement based upon mileage.

The Eurospares items were some misc parts to be replaced around the car... hood struts, trim bits, fasteners, and the test pipes.

I know one neighbor who won't be too upset.

We'll have to do some exhaust tone comparisons when you're all back together Matt.

    Congrats to you Matthew.

The 30K for a 348 was on my "bucket list" but work has gotten in the way. At this rate, it would take a year to do the job. But now I get to pay someone else to care for my car (in great hands too).

Still, a DIY would have been so rewarding.
