My A/C compressor does not engage when I turn on the A/C. I looked for the 12 gague brown wire, but could not find it nor could I find the fuse that I read about in the archives. Anyone have any suggestions? Are there fuses/relays I should check? I only found 1 relay for A/C in the owners manual.

    Thanks in advance,

    Mark

Update: Ok, so I found the brown 12 gauge wire and it already has a 30 amy blade-type fuse on it. The fuse is in good working order.

Here's the substance of the problem: When I turn on the A/C, the front fan in the bumper in the front of the car does not come on. The compressor does not kick in, but I get a lot of air blowing from the vents. It's not cold, but it's there.

Is there a relay I should check or is there a wire I can put a load on to turn on the compressor and the fan up front to see if there is another problem?

Final question: Does anyone have a diagram of what the relays and fuses are up front in the top passenger side?

    Thanks!

That's normally empty. You install a 10 amp fuse there to trigger the ABS diagnostics.

    Here's mine, empty:

AC compressors have a pressure safety switch; not enough freon pressure and they won't kick on. I don't know if that safety switch would cause your front AC fan to not kick on, though, so that may or may not be your problem.

Thank you No Doubt. I also received the same advice from Daniel at http://www.ricambiamerica.com/. Great advice and, $174 later, it's cold as can be. I'm amazed!

Also, evidently the front fan does not kick on unless the compressor is running so a little freon and there we went!

    Best wishes.
