A/C Condenser Fan won't shut off

Just got back from a drive, shut off the car, and the A/C condenser fan in the front bumper continued to run. I let it go for a couple of minutes, re-started the car, cycled the HVAC control back and forth, turned the A/C off and turned the car back off. Fan still on.

I then disconnected the battery and removed relay "C" from the boot fuse panel (relay that controls switching power on/off to fan), re-connected the battery - and the darn fan started right back up again like it is possessed! In theory the fan should not be able to run with the relay removed - or so I thought.

I probably won't have a chance to dig into it until next weekend, but if anyone has any ideas I'm all ears. I'm not getting any error codes from the HVAC unit or ECUs, and everything else seems to be shutting off as it should. Maybe the relay socket has melted across the contacts in the fuse/relay board? The irony of trying to get something to stop running on these cars, lol!

 

Okay, I must be getting old and senile - I had the diagram for the relays oriented wrong and pulled the wrong bloody relay, lol. Relay was bad, two second fix. Old relay was fried into the "activated" (current across the terminals) position. Nothing to see here!
