I'm doing work on my Dino and want to get the A/C to perform really well. A friend had made a call to a FL dealer on buying a car and during the conversation asked about the A/C. The seller commented that his shop changes the airflow out of the evaporator to blow the cool air to the footwell vents rather than the dash vent.

Sounded like good advice, and guys in FL probably are quite experienced in A/C so I thought that I'd post it here.
Is re-routing the A/C evaporator output to the feet the solution? Anyone done it?

Any help, tips, or tricks is most appreciated.

I've already bought a new condensor with longer tube passes that fits my old radiator mounting. I will buy new hoses and look into insulating them. Then I'll upgrade my compressor with a TCCI unit like I successfully used on my Maserati Bora:

Still gotta get a new drier.

I have a Lotus Elise and there were a lot of problems with the way the factory designed the A/C system.
One of the culprits was the the heat from the heater core was near where the air conditioning tube is and there was not a lot of insulation, so heat soak was occurring. I'll look up the thread that describes the problem and some solutions.

Dont know if the Dino has a similar setup, but the guy on the site named theViper lives in Boca and is an electrical engineer and knows a lot more about how this than me.

I sent him an email to see if he knows the answer.

He said he wasn't familiar with the system on Dino's so he wouldn't be able to tell.

    Sorry.

I had a 246 Dino coupe for 26 years. I changed the AC outlet to a 308 under the radio outlet. The results were not what I had hoped for, very slightly improved. We do have a customers Dino that we service that someone has taped into the tube and has some of the air exiting below the radio and some out the normal dash vents. That works better. His car also has insolation added to the cavity in front of the evaporator. This helped also. I think it boilds down to Dino air is not spectacular whatever you do. We do have a customer who had us hang an inexpensive american made under dash unit in his Daytona. It kept the origonal compressor and condenser. The air is the coldest of any vintage Ferrari I have ever seen. I think this proves it is not the compressor or condensor that is the weak link but the evaperator. Contact me if you would like to discuss this further.
