Anything common to look for before I take it in? Fuses, relays, plugs/fittings? Blew cold last week... slowly got warmer and warmer.. now it's just cold at all. Seems too fast to be freon, but who knows? New to the car.. not an HVAC expert.
Since it went away slowly, I think it's likely a refrigerant leak. You should take it to a shop and have it leak tested, and when they find and fix the leak, replace the evap/filter before evacuating and recharging.
Thanks for the reply Need4Spd. I have a CS TCU on the way and don't want to have to take it to the dealer twice in such a short period (it's far).. so I am going to do basic trouble shooting beforehand in case it's something simple (relay, fuse, whatever). If not, I'll have them diagnose it... Symptoms - So today I played with it when I hit the recirc button it stays in for a couple seconds, then pops out. I don't see any change in RPMs when I mess with the temp control knob indicating that the compressor isn't coming on? Also, I JUST read recently on here someone had a connector overheat and fuse/melt itself causing the AC to not work. I cannot find the thread... since the search won't look for such a short term. Can anyone link me or suggest other "obvious" alternatives to compressor failure/freon loss? It's something electrical IMO.. I had something similar on my M5 a few months ago - was some stupid little multi pin connector under the dash - cheap and easy part to replace.. a PITA to get to - but better than major system failure.
A good air conditioning shop can do the basic diagnosis and leak check for you, even if they do not have an SD2. The 360 climate control is pretty simple and parts substitution for many valves, dryers, etc is pretty easy.
