What is common to go bad with the AC system on a 95' 355? I am looking at one for sale and the AC does not work. The current owner says he has not tryed to charge it or anything and does not plan to mess with it before selling it. It's AS-IS.

Could be almost anything with just saying it doesn't work. It is charged?, ECU?, Fuse?, etc...

You can forget get anything out of this guy on that. He just wants to flip the car, make $1500 and go. I suspect he had no idea what he was getting into with selling one of these things. He says he is tired of hearing all the problems these cars have when people call to ask about it etc.

I am finding it hard to buy one of these cars. Once you start asking questions, it's like they don't even want to sell it to you. One guy even told me "I am not sure your the right buyer for my car......". It's rediculous. They just expect you to see a couple pictures and send them a check and hope for the best.

I think it's a mistake to buy ANY Ferrari with undiagnosed flaws- because as all of us can attest- trying to fix a mystery problem, even a small one, can get expensive fast.

I think the 355 is the first ferrari with a fairly reliable and efficient A/C system- Most of the non functioning systems are simply due to low Freon (R134a) and can be simply recharged. A/C clutches go and replacing the compressor is not a major deal.

My 355 with a black interior stood up to the 95-100 degree heat we had here in Boston this summer.

If you have ECU or HVAC panel issues it can require several thousand $$ worth of parts- let alone labor to diagnose.

If the compressor is bust then it might cost you a few 1000$. !IF! it is available at all.
You should ask yourself "How much extra cash do I have for repairs?".
