I am looking for recommendations/suggestions for an air conditioning service shop in the Mid-Hudson region of NY (approximately half-way between NYC & Albany on the east side of the Hudson River). The car is an '82 Mondial that has the old style freon refrigerant & I am considering upgrading the system to the new R134. Is there an A/C shop that you know of that is particularly knowledgable with Ferraris? Thank you for your suggestions.

Vito it's just an AC system and nothing special to Ferrari. I would suggest "Highland radiator" which is on Rt 9W a little north of Highland New York.

It's been repeated before, but Steve Arena handles A/C & has the conversion kit to R134.

There's many threads in the 3x8 section about *not* converting over.
I had it in mind to keep the 308 original. I didn't want to swap compressors or such.
So I tried quite a few shops for R12 & finally a local mechanic said he had it & would check my A/C.

I go to pick up the car & the shop converted it without my OK. I was ticked.
But after talking to Steve, it seems they did everything fine. But Steve did say with the age of these systems
a drier replacement should certainly be considered: And I've heard that numerous times before. Had I known the shop
was going to do the conversion, I would have had Steve do it & gotten the benefit of his Ferrari expertise.

Call Steve. He's right next to the Teterboro airport.

BTW: My 308 now blows cold, because of the recharge, not due to the change-over.
