For this last show, I wanted to mix it up a bit. It seems like I take the same photos every time I go. This time I only took photos with the telephoto, and I tried to get more detail shots. I also tried to capture the people aspect in some of the photos - the crowds around cars, people with coffee, dads with strollers, etc. I hope you enjoy the change in style.

You mean humans actually show up to Crystal Cove too? ;)

Thank you.. I always try to throw some people in my shots because it definitely helps to 'capture the moment'. You've done it perfectly here.. the pic of the two CGT's driving in is my favorite.

Wow you drive by shots are incredible, I hope you don't mind, I downloaded a copy of the picture of my TT from your site.

Can you share your panning shot setup? F stop? Shutter speed?

    I don't mind at all!

I was at about 110mm with the shutter priority set to 1/80 second. It's a little easier when the cars are at about 135-150mm and you can use 1/100-1/125 if the cars are going a bit faster. It's tough to get the same sense of motion when the cars are going slow. You have to compensate with the lower shutter speed and the car generally ends up not being as sharp.

Love the drive by shots - I really enjoy seeing the cars moving. I'm gonna have to get down there again and get in on the show!!

    Great photos as usual.

    Cheers

    Kevin,

Let me know if you're planning a drive down to CC in July. I'd like to try going again, but without the rain this time.

Very cool shots Drew... Are you hand holding the camera or using the tripod for your panning shots??

Thank you so much for the High Res!

I did some panning shots with my 10D and could not yield any sharp shots ( iwas using a monopod too). Now i know why, I was shooting too slow, around 40 or 60 shutter speed. I will try my panning technique again in the coming weeks.

Handholding. I've tried it with a monopod and couldn't track the cars without having the camera crooked.

    Thanks Phil!

Try using faster shutter speeds first, maybe 1/125 second, and then work your way down as you get the hang of it.

Well oro chiaro is not my first choice color wise, but I have the panning shot of that 308GTB as my desktop and it is fantastic. I think that car was for sale at Tillack's a while back. Great design and a great photo of the car.

    Cheers
