I agree with Juri.. sounds kinda funky. My guess (and that is the best that it is) a wire is not making contact as Juri mentions.. perhaps the module is bad or partially fried with leaky acid.. or the circuitry is markedly different for whatever reason. Got me stumped as well. :-(

I had an H1 Hummer that needed a turn signal switch. Hummer wanted $150.00 for it. I remembered the steering column from the old Ford Escorts. Same turn signal switch at the Ford parts counter, $35.00. Parts is a game!

Also, I just contacted a GM parts center, from the link that was posted earlier in this thread and they told me there are no GM Alarms with this part number left in the US. They said they can get me one from Europe but with the Pounds conversion it would be $490.00 American Dollars. WTF?

Posting information about the lack of availability of this part will only boost the price hike by parts distributors and private resellers. Here is the result (Ricambi >$500 !):

Of course, you can eplace the battery, if you are lucky enough ...., In my case, the battery leaked out and damaged the electronic circuitry of the unit rendering it nonfunctional.... As many have already done so, preventative installation of an external battery may preclude the problem from even developing.

Of note, although this part is on a national backorder list again, I was told by the GM parts dealer that it should be availble within 3 months. So, $70-75/each in 3 months from GM Parts is still better than $500/each from others in 3 days (unless one does not care abot the price... ).

Just replaced mine, and the GM part works fine. The GM part from dealers was on backorder forever so I paid $200 on Fleabay, but it is fixed. Siren chirped a bit when power was turned back on, and now the light on the dash goes out as it should. Also, when locked, the light comes back on and flashes.

    Score!

Now to take apart the old one :)

    Hello,

Old thread revival but does anyone still have one for sale?

Also is this the correct part number for the 550 alarm siren replacement.

    Thank you.

Mine just got damaged again... I ordered one from GMPartsDirect and it should arrive soon. This siren is made in Hungary, as opposed to Australia, where it has been manufactured previously (before the production was terminated there and created a huge unmet need for this part all over the world). I will install the Hungarian-made siren and provide an update on how it works. Based on my phone call to GM parts warehouse in Lansing, MI, they now have a huge stock of these sirens.
