I've had my 2013 Spider for 3 months now, and I just noticed a couple of curious items. I guess I've been enamored with driving the beast and haven't noticed these items before, and I'm not sure if my build is correct.

    1. The passenger door has a handle but the driver door does not? Is this normal?
    2. The driver door window has a "one-touch" lift feature to raise the window, the passenger window does not? You have to hold the button up to raise the window. Again is this normal?

Driver side vs passenger side door handle pictures:

Both normal. The hand rail is removed from the drivers side to prevent you hitting your elbow in a rapid turn in a race type setting. The MB SLR had this fatal flaw and I actually know a story where a guy crashed and blamed this.

The window thing is silly but also normal. I know they want the drivers hands away from the wheel at little as possible (thus the stearing wheel controls) but it probably adds a little $ to build with both auto windows and god forbid they add anything for nothing in a 300k car. Where else can they charge 1800 for electric mirrors and garage door opener. Ha!

    Both normal.

Interesting that my new S4 has one touch up and down on BOTH the driver and passenger windows but the 458 Spider only has this up feature on the driver's window. Apparently, the Audi has a sensor to prevent hurting your fingers.

    Best.

I have not tried the back windows yet. :)

The rear window on the Spider is not one touch either up or down.

Thanks for the replies. The handle makes some sense but I'm not so sure about the one touch window lift reasoning.

I think the passenger side window is done out of safety concern. I once had my hand caught in the passenger window when my driver rolled up the window without looking my way. when there is no auto up on the passenger side, at least the driver will have his/her hand on the button and can immediately roll it down when the screaming starts.

I think the reason for the handle is so the passenger can hold on. So it has not been removed from the driver's side, but it has been added to the passenger side. Bit pedantic, I know.

    The one-touch thing is annoying.
