The wing is from Amerisport and was originally made for a '80s Pantera GT5-S.

It looks better on the Pantera! (not that I like it on them either)

Ok .Seen the car and actually wnet with the owner for a drive. Car is not misrepresented. It is a decent to good driver.
The owner is confused as to the history and the paperwork. While he keeps saying he owned it for 10 years he has not by the paperwork. He is a bit short of that. He also said he did not have the DOT/EPA but when he showed me the papers i did found them. see the pics. Car needs a few things but could just be driven as is.
no signs of improper lifting that I could see. Gearbox is typical of a 5000S with hard 2nd and a few other minor things. No puddle of oil under the car. I saw it where it sleep.
Funny that I never new this Ct was not that far from me for so many years. but the owner never attends the occasional gatherings.

The biggest thing I found was the rear shock sagging a bit. But a drive on rough road did not get the tires to hit the flares inside. Leather seat and center console look tired but could be restored and redied.

Again I am not a mechanic and this is not a PPI. I dont know the engine compression or the way the gearbox oil looks. But from the drive, the car pulls as it should.

BTW: On the way there, I found a beautiful 86 Porsche 911 convertible (non turbo), 55kmiles, slant nose, wide body for sale. Does anyone knows what these things typically go for ? A slant nose 911 has been hitching me for a while now...

Thank you so much for the update on the car. I will follow-up from my end. As for the slant nose, the market price is around 45-55K. Victor in Colorado has a black convertible slant nose. He can tell you more.

Nice to hear... someone can chuck the wing and start to have fun.

  7. Sounds like a decent Countach. The wing is easy to fix fast(unbolt it, put some rubber plugs available from Home Depot for $5.00). Easy fix at a body shop. Just drop off the trunk lid only! EVERY single white interior car I have seen from the 80's needed the interior re dyed or had it done. Not a big deal. On the Porsche, that sounds high for a non turbo , but the mileage sounds good. Carreaper were are you?

    Fascinating thread.

I have had 6 3.2 L 911's, and i have a 1987 ( G50 trans) Steels slope nose cab. Mine is listed on the net for $25,000 obo. Mine is a Turbo look also, so no turbo maintenance hassles, as its a nice 3.s with a Dansk (sp?) exhaust.

Please pm me if you need any Slopenose help / advice.( even if you dont want my car.)

I am active on Pelican and Rennlist with 911's.

    Michael

my apologies for the pics ( off topic) but we cannot pm pics to each other.

Sorry, I did not read carefully about the non-turbo part. I do not think Porsche made factory slant nose in 86, started in 87. So this one is a conversion car. With that, I agree with you with the price of $25,000.

Sorry Patrick that I was not able to go and give more of a mechanical viewpoint (had to work late Sat.)
Yes, interesting that we did not know about this car. That is why I am questionable of ownership or residing in Connecticut. It is a small state and I have many friends and shop relationships throughout this state. But, as with some, people are sometimes private. Would like to know which shop maintained this car. Because the ones that I have dealt with and that Patrick have dealt with never said anything about this car.
It's a Countach for under a hundred grand, buy it. I still have a feeling that sub 100k Countach will be gone forever in due time.

Nino Performance of Bethany maintained this car all along. Car seems ok mechanically for what can be seen and felt.
When looking at prices of muscle cars, I always feel the non 400 countaches are bargains. Heck some guys are listing Fiat 124 spyders for around $10K !!!! when you can get a 308 for under $30K now.

Factory built slant noses (and Porsche has great records - for a few bucks they will mail you a certificate showing exactly how it was built) are real rare; maybe ~600 total built in all forms. And I think real slant turbos, which are also '80s icons just like the Countach, will pop in value too imo. The last one I know of selling was at Scottsdale last Jan. Odd (to me) blue color, sunroof coupe, low (less than 50K, which is low for a Porsche, but not a Lambo!) miles, and clean:

    42 1987 Porsche 930S Slantnose Coupe $68,750

Good color cabs should bring more.

Just like muscle cars, the trick is to prove it is a real slant nose (which is easy if one spends a little money and is patient). Just like SS Chevelles, and Cobras, there are WAY more 'non-factory built' slant noses than 'factory built' ones.

mine was done by the Porsche Exclusive program, and they will not release any of the records, i went through a Porsche dealer, and spoke to Germany directly. i had a thread on my car in the Porsche section. wont post anymore about it here. they made 16 turbolook cabs in 1987.

High oil pressure may be the caused of blown oil lines. Form your recent drive, you noticed max oil pressure when the car at speed. A PPI would be a good idea.

Would have been a cool color IF it came from the factory like that.
    Car needs to go back.

$95K for a 84 side draft 5000S driver, not a show car? Is it a good price? especially with all the 5000 QV on the market for less.
