I know that I have not been a presence on the boards in some time, but as is the case, life has gotten in the way. I am still here, and still alive, but I am also needing to make some changes in my life.

This is where yall come in.

I am moving to Austin (my home town) and part of that involves ensuring that I can find employment once I am there.

I have already let a few people in on this, TexasMike being one of them. He is keeping an ear to the ground for me, and acting as a scout if you will, but more help is always better.

So, here is where I sell myself.

I am a sometimes IT tech, with an AS in Network Management, I have been wrenching since I was old enough to comprehend "lefty loosey, righty tighty". I am confidant with everything from oil changes and tune ups, to engine building and body work. I currently have the hardware and software to talk to Bosch VAGCom and Audi systems for everything from OBD2 testing, to customization of the cars features and functions. I am not above sweeping floors and cleaning tools, nor am I above cleaning bathrooms, and walking dogs.

I have no criminal record (never even been handcuffed), Marine Corps veteran, and in need of some work.

I am telling yall this because it makes sense to discuss these matters with the people I want to work with and for, rather than looking on craigslist. I am a gearhead, and want to make my way by working on and building cars. I can do computer stuff, but working on engines makes me happier.

If anyone has any questions, and do not feel comfortable asking me, may contact TexasMike and ask him. He has known me for a long enough time that I feel comfortable letting him speak for me.

I am planning on moving in the next week, so I will be available locally if anyone wishes to contact me.

Thank you in advance. Hope to be showing up at the Austin meets soon.

It's in San Antonio, but have you thought of Rack Space? Friend of mine is there and has promoted well, lives comfortably. Just a thought with the IT stuff in mine.

Thanks for the Rack Space lead.
While I really am set on Austin, I did find that they have some positions open there.

Ill add that to the list.

    Anyone needing wrench turners?

Buggin, if you don't mind paying $15, you will be able to see lots of information in the Business & Investments section. I'm not guaranteeing anything, but it may help. There is also a subsection called Jobs, where there are some resumes & jobs available posted, although probably not in Austin.

^ You better believe I'm going to be pestering you as soon as I hit town.
I'm trying to get in with the valet company Charlie is working for, but that's more of a temp solution.

As soon as I can get some money in my account, I will have to take the plunge and subscribe.
The more good info, the better. Thanks to everyone for the help so far.

    Quick update...

Am trying to be in town over the weekend, and maybe stay the week to sort out a job.
Probably something in the Valet field, since its a natural fallback I have used a few times in DFW.

What are some of the better companies I need to look for in the Austin area?
I have worked with LoneStar in Dallas off and on over the last few years, and would like to get a line on the best folks to work with. I figure a weekend should fund a bicycle of some sort, and a month or so should fund a car, or bike.

Yall would be the best people to ask for this info.
    Thanks in advance.

Hope to be in town soon.
