Went looking for a good pic of the Beverly Hillbillies mansion and found these interesting pieces of trivia:

"The show started to Jump when it moved to color. However, if you notice, during the closing credits in the black and white episodes, the Clampett Mansion was shown....it stopped when the show went to color. THis is because the mansion, an actual home in Bel Air, was owned by the Kirkeby family. Because of the overnight success of the show, the Kirkeby Estate was overwhelmed by fans of the Hillbilly Show. People even knocked on the door, and asked to meet the Clampetts. A recent widow, Mrs. Kirkeby decided she did not want the house sed in the show anymore, so location shots ceased, and the sets took on a phony look. Even when the truck pulled up to the front doors of the set, you could tell it was a set becasue of the fake backdrops of fancy hedges."

"The actual mansion (a.k.a. "The Kirkeby Mansion") used for establishing exterior shots on the series was built in 1933 on a sprawling 6.5 acre tract of land located at 750 Bel Air Road in Bel Air, California by millionaire Arnold Kirkeby, a Chicago hotel magnate. The 20,000 square foot mansion featured a billiard room, marble-walled ballroom, a 150-foot waterfall and, of course, a "cee-ment pond." The Kirkeby mansion went up on the market in the mid 1980s with an asking price of $27 million dollars. It was purchased by TV executive named Jerrold Perrenchio in 1987 for $13.7 million who then dismantled the mansion and built a new structure to reflect his own lifestyle. Just before THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES, the Kirkeby mansion was used as the location for the Jerry Lewis motion picture Cinderfella (1960)."
