Should be picking up my 348 this week (yes, I will post pics).

In the interim, I'm tracking down a few parts and pieces and would appreciate any help in this regard. I did a good bit of searching on the net and FerrariChat, but I can't find definitive answers.

    1. Shields: What is the proper size? I know about the metal vs. acryllic vs. inset debate, but I don't know what the proper sizing is-- or if there is a "proper" size.

    2. I found the correct front horse emblem in chrome on Ricambi, but I cannot find the rear one. Is this labeled as something else?

    3. Does anyone have any experience with the radios/navigation systems that have a flip out video screen? I suspect there are clearance issues with the 348 radio door, but it is hard to tell. I can go the portable GPS route, but since I need to replace the tired cassette player anyway, this seemed like an elegant and easy to hide solution.

    4. What is the consensus on wax vs. synthetic polishes?

    5. Has anyone done any upgrades or mods that they regretted doing later on? I'd love to benefit from any wisdom here.

    Thanks in advance.

    2. I see the rear chrome horse on Ebay all the time.... www.hgparts.net used to have them also but I haven't checked that site in a while

    3. Flip out radio will NOT clear the radio cover....The radio is too far recessed into the harness...Maybe you could do a seperate monitor?

Tons of opinions. I personally prefer Meguires NXT on my black 348. Shine is great, no swirls, etc. etc. Downside? The longevity is quite poor and only lasts a few weeks. Nonethless, it looks fantastic when freshly applied.

Meguires NXT rocks for ease of use and "pretty darn good" shine on 348's. It's fast; it looks good. If you want more shine (and are willing to spend a day of labor) and deeper color, go Zaino.

i use a meguiars deep crystal carnauba wax on my cars

compared to a synthetic 'polymer' wax...heres the lowdown:

    PLUS:
deeper wet look and noticeably more shine
    smells awesome during application :p

    MINUS:
    heat resistance of only 55deg C vs 180deg C for a polymer
    doesnt last quite as long

i do 2 coats of carnauba and the finish is fantastic. and with the much lower use most Ferraris would see, its probably a good option :)

I prefer to use the Zaino brothers system. Clay bar, then some Z-5, then some Z-2, then some Z-5, then some Z-2.... superior durability and great depth. A little pricey (about $85 for the kit), but well worth it.
