I havent had a chance to cook with the new Bob Kramer 10" but it was a gift from sur la table (http://www.surlatable.com/product/PRO-180373/Bob-Kramer-Carbon-Steel-Chefs-Knife-by-Zwilling-J-A-Henckels) It's not one of his $5-$20K custom knives, but this thing is the sharpest and largest knife i've ever owned! slightly terrifying to hold.

The cutting board i picked up @ Williams Sonoma and is a teakwood, its got a nice slot under the bottom to put a plate in where you can slide cuttings onto the plate for disposal.

    Happy new years!

whoa, I haven't bought a high quality knife since a heavy deba in Tokyo 2 years ago, and a set of Sabatiers 20 years ago, but I now NEED a Kramer.

Already have a good 10" chefs, but this Santoku is calling out to me.

Nice book too! I spent a month in Thailand mainly because I wanted to eat as much Thai cuisine as possible, especially the street food...

    Beautiful end-grain board.

I've not handled the new Kramer line yet but hear great things about the blades. The profile throws me off a bit with so much belly, but I suppose one gets used to it and adjusts technique accordingly.

    Nice gifts, thanks for sharing!
