Now i have lived with her for a day i have a few questions.

She is a 355F1, when shifting is it ok to leave my foot flat on the throttle? I can hear the computer controlling the revs for the shift but i would like to know if it is recommended to lit for the shift?

Is it ok to drive in sport mode all the time?

I had the slow down light flash at me for a breif moment today, i slowed down, it went off and never returned, i would like to know what triggers this light to come on as if it is something i was doing then i will not do it again.

When just croozing, what revs should i aim for? i.e is there a rev band for just pottering around, would it be bad for her is i crooz at say around 2500rpm?

Thanks guys, your help is appreciated. :D

Yes, you can leave your foot in the gas when shifting, but shifts pretty hard when you do that. I usually just ease off the gas a taD BEFORE PULLING THE PADDLE AND IT SHIFTS VERY SMOOTH EVEN IN sPORT MODE..
I drive with mine in Sport mode all the time.
Cruising at 2500 RPM is fine..

    1) Yep, but it does help to lift just a tad on the upshift. Might want to blip it on the downshift as well since it won't do it for you.

    2) I've had mine in sport mode for the whole 3 years I've had it. Quicker shifts = less slip = longer clutch life

    3) Could be lots of things.. catalytic converters are one of the more common causes though

    4) Whatever you're comfortable with. The good thing about the F1 system is that if you're cruising around at 2k rpm and need some quick power to make a pass or to make some kind of evasive move, just tap the left paddle a couple of times and you'll be in the middle of the power band in under a second.

Very nice---I have never turned my car off with the trans in gear, like it says to do. I always put it in neutral before shutting down. Not sure if it makes a difference. Also can vids from YouTube be downloaded?? I see no download button..

I guess the reason they say to leave in 1st gear is incase the handbrake fails. This will stop the car rolling.

Makes sense. I just figured with the car in neutral--less stress on the trans...

Sweet video thanks for sharing. My neighbor has the f1 in his 99 360, i see him drive it at higher rpm to avoid extra shifting. he said it saves the clutch use by almost half. He replaced the 1st clutch he said at about 25K, he now has 60K and hasnt replaced.
Anyone else confirm this ? Does it hold true ? I think i seen the tack around 4...4.5K driving around.

PS...congrats on the new wheels, enjoy in good health !!

Absolutely, I've always done with with manual tranny cars. Same logic, IF something did happen I'd rather have my engine disengaged instead of being forced to turn through the wheels!

Is that a check engine light on near the end of the video? Looks to be dead center where mine is located...

That is correct. I will have to check, but I believe that is also recommended in the owners manual. The 355 hand brakes are known for failing. I know of a couple of guys whose 355s ended up in the neighbors yard after the handbrake failed.

Thats the beep to warn you it is in neutral. Mine does the same, FWIW I shut it off in gear when out but leave it in N in my garage.

Quick how-to on saving Youtube videos:

    Click: http://kej.tw/flvretriever/
Enter the Youtube URL of your video in the text field, in our case it's http://youtube.com/watch?v=KDEeoYwt3Qc
Mark the "Auto start downloading promt.." checkbox
You will be asked to save a file "get_video.htm". Do it.
After download has finished, rename the file to "(nameyouwant).flv"
It is possible that Windows Media Player doesn't play the file, in this case, use the VLC player (which is better anyway): http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
