A former karting buddy has a shot at F1

Cart driver Mario Dominguez singed a letter of intent to drive for Midland in 2006, apparently he turned down a Friday/test driver position to honor his Cart commitments.

His potential drive blends well with the plans of a GP in Cancun and I’m sure Midland is eyeing deep pocketed Mexican sponsors that have been involved in US series (Telmex, Tecate, CompUSA, Televisa).

This also brings up the issue of whether a 30 yr. debutant can still be perceived as some one with potential for an F1 career (even if it’s a short one). In other eras drivers would even change their age, allegedly G. Villeneuve shaved 2-3 yrs. from his passport.
