Just thought it would be fun to post this. I have 2 Top Fuel engines in the shop to build, along with a few Ferrari engines....people are shocked when they see the size of the valves and ports on a T/F engine, and are amazed how good Ferrari engines run with such little valves. So, I put a 355 head along side a T/F head for comparison.....

That is pretty cool, a lot of machine work on those heads. But....And you would know more about this than me, but isnt it the volume of air that can pass through that really matters, than the amount of valves?

More valves means more flow area at low lift giving you more power with a wider power band. None of that really matters on a blown fuel motor though.

Interesting comment and worth thinking about. Wonder how long before Ferrari blows it's engines. BMW does it, Audi, the new McLaren. Certainly makes engineering around all those valves moot. Hey, BTW, did you see the new Alfa Guilietta engine that uses hydraulically actuated valves? It only spins to 6K, but imagine how fast it could spin. Heck, switch to pneumatics and the sky's the limit. Remember when F1 engines turned beyond the current 18-19K rpm?

I think thats going to be very very soon for Ferrari. Their new supercar is going to use a TTV8. They were even thinking about using a TTV6. I wouldnt be suprised if that tech finds its way to their road cars, like the 458 succesor.

personally I see an end to the super speed war. Seriously, whats the limit we are going to see? if it keeps up, in 10 years the 468 or what ever is next will have like 900hp lol.

Also, Nothing sound better then an N/A engine.

Based on the visual size comparison alone, if the TF engine makes 8000 HP, the F355 engine should make 3000 HP (about 10X what it actually makes.)

Only because you have never had a motor with a real blower. Not one of those hair dryer things.
