    The dark grey roof on black body looks tremendous. Just that little subtle contrast makes it all the more interesting. Have to say, black wheels with virtually any body color is really looking like a winner. I've always wondered why more manufacturers don't paint their wheels but this clearly shows the way.

    Bravo on this thread. It's a lot of fun to check in and see new and interesting combinations that I hadn't imagined would look so good.

    This looks alright, but I still prefer a clean line ;)

    It would also cost quite a lot if I have to guess, since you have to divide two body panels over it's own curve before spray painting.

    Thanks Jim, perfect!!!! I love how it slims the center and then accents the shape going into the wider rear. Either way, we're looking at a masterpeice of a car here.

    Oops just noticed he asked for a black Hamann, how could I misread that? :eek:

    I'm not a native English speaker so had to look that up, did you mean I went over the top? :)

    Just added all the typical Hamann nonsense they normally do ;)

    Jim,

    a lot of great job to present so many different options for the color, thank you, we just have to pass the order now!

    But when I try to print an example I get the same feeling than with the "official" pics from Ferrari for the 458: the car seems in fact smaller and higher than on your pics in this thread, in fact when I take for example the size of the wheel on my computer for your pics, they are 33 mm large for 28 mm height (on such pics) showing in fact the 458 longer than "real" pics.
    Do you have an explication and/or a confirmation that the 458 is in fact not so short as showned yet on the "official" first pics? I should prefer it longer (as showned on your pic presenting the enzo, the 458 and the 430)

    That's because the side picture of the car isn't fully front on from the side, the camera angle (or in this case the render camera from whatever render software they use) is slightly above the car (you can see a bit from the bumper, back window and curved bootlit etc.), with this perspective view left to right is still equal, yet bottom to top is now slightly angular (very roughly said).

    Just made this box 100x100x100mm in a 3D CAD app (see attachment), applied a similar wide angle perspective camera though a bit exaggerated. Now if I re-measure this image in Photoshop it's 361 pixels high and 374 pixels width (both measured around center to center of the frontal surface).

    Same goes for the wheels on the official press image (and for the whole car of course), when it ain't full frontal anymore it becomes an elipse in perspective terms.


    I also just measured the length, height and wheelbase of the 458 from the press picture itself it's not that far from Ferrari's given sizes, but the same thing as the box happens it's slightly longer because of the perspective. The wheelbase is even most off compared to the other two sizes because of the wide angle perspective.

    Jim your answer here perhaps explains the reason for much consternation upon viewing the the 'real life' pic of the 458 in the other thread. It seems your 458 images were more pleasing to the eye...

    That's what I'm secretly hoping for ;) people printing out some of the crazy designs and drive the Ferrari Atelier mad :D

    Not sure, like someone said in that topic, they were just tired of California bashing and went on to the next model :)

    And of course the front lift thing, which I proved by a simple perspective view, but they still went on, bunch of disbelievers :D


    Here you go. (stripes ain't perfect, but had enough of fiddling around with stripes ;))
