I guess I have to say that I've been indoctorinated into the life of a Ferrari owner. There I was, pulling out into the street after a nice dinner and my foot goes to the floor while pushing down the clutch and shifting into gear. Then nothing, can't get it into gear. Luckily I had enough momentum to respectfully roll into a parkikng lot and then parking space without drawing any attention. So there i am, around 7:00 pm, sun almost down. Shut off the engine and then start it back up. I have hopes that it was just a fluke. No such luck. Get out of the car and walk around to the back. Nice big puddle of fluid slowly seeping out from under the car into the parking lot. Having the ability of being able to fill up the gas tank, I realize I am not one to tackle what is going on nor do I envision myself leaving it in the parking lot. I took a chance and called my mechanic, Chis Dugan from Motion Products West out of Carlsbad. First call goes to voice mail, second to the office, third back to his cell and he answers. I explain my situation and within 15 minutes he is at the side of my car looking at what he can do. We both realized that it was best to get it to the shop where he could look at it better in the morning. He puts in some fluid, I put it into second gear, start the engine and strategically make my way through the area and get to the garage. He will need to tear it down tomorrow and see which seal failed.

I can't thank him enough for being there. I have no idea what I would have had to do with out his extra effort tonight. Just want to thank Chris and all of those mechanics who keep our vehicles alive. Without them I know where I would have been.

I'm gonna guess that the slave cylinder, for the throw out bearing, blew out the back. Common iteam to break on the 355's. If it does turn out that that is the problem, I suggest you get the redesigned Hill Engineering setup from Ricambi. While your at it, have him change the tripple seals on the out put shaft.

Thanks for the advice. I will let you know. It sounds like what he said last night.

    Hey Jeff,

I couldn't agree with you more.

I have a 95 355 spider that Chris and the two Josh's look after, too. I was at least a little anxious when I bought the car - what/when it will break, where can I take it, am I going to get my eyeballs ripped out by a less than perfectly honest mechanic?

When I posted on F-chat a few months ago looking for a good mechanic in North County (I work in Carlsbad) you suggested Chris at Motion Products West.

Since then, Chris and the guys have been nothing short of incredible to work with and have made the only scary part of the Ferrari ownership experience (for me anyway) very easy to deal with.

Thanks for helping me find them and I am sure they'll get your car sorted out and back on the road for your drive this weekend.

Agreed and I am counting on it. I am not sure but are you showing up at Firenzi's in Encinitas this Saturday? We are all getting togther for a lunch and drive down the coast. The thread is located in the "Southern California" section and is titled San Diego Gathering and Drive - August 26th. Would be great to meet you since Chris and Josh(s) have spoken about you before. They are planning on coming down and will be bringing a few older vintage cars for show. Should be a good time.

I have to be in San Francisco this weekend so I am unable to attend. Hopefully I'll be able to make the next one. Have a great time.
