I just got the latest Hemmings, and it came wrapped with a color preview booklet on Barrett-Jackson.

There inside was what appears to be a 512BB in Silver/Black and the caption claims that the original owner was race driver A.J.Foyt.

    It made me wonder -

a.) is this true, or just pre-auction BS? Somehow, A.J. never struck me as a Boxer owner...

b.) would celebrity ownership really make a car worth more/less than its real value? I.E. points ++ for Jackie Stewart, points -- for Saddam or Paris H.?

c.) wonder how this ended up at Barrett-Jackson - I thought they were doing just hot-rods & musclecars, with a few "show cars" mixed in.

    James

PS - I was once called into my managers office and he asked what I thought a 91 or 92 Lincoln town car might be worth. He thought it was probably a classic investment because it was once owned by Warren Buffet. No joke.

    BBi..........

Search the site as I have been thru all this before...

It has an oxblood interior that makes you feel like you are in your momma's womb......

Went for $128K at Indy when AJ sold it...never saw much use.......maybe the high banks of Texas World Speedway

Also sold at Keels and Wheels to Vintage Motorcars, on Kempwood in Houston, where Ferda "woke it up" and brought Services current.......

    Repost bad - bad - bad -

but an enquiring mind had to know...

Maybe I could also pick up that Caterpiller bulldozer he was riding when he tore up the killer bee nest...it seems to me a better mental fit for owner and auctioneer.

Oh no! Not really a repost as it's breaking news...we follow the ones on eBay as well......

You' d have to read a lot of random comments over the site to get all the stuff I recapped above........what's the mileage on this thing?

It sat for YEARS after one owner died..........his widow wanted $250K, when a beautiful, low miles one, was $60K!

Nope, last I saw, he was still using the Caterpillar!

He was actually VERY lucky with those bees.....a harrowing injury.
He's had a knee replacement since then though, and is planning a BIG season in the IRL 2007...........

Per Larry, last week, they have lots of surprises!

unless if owned by ralph lauren or bill marriot as it helps w/ the knowledge of proper observance and respect of pedigree and restoration.

many know that marriot cars have been restored by david carte as an example...he is known to be among (if not "the") best in the world!!

add to give ya a gotcha speedy!!

No, the 110,000km car was black/black, sold in Chicago by Ken, Sr....it's been rolled back (forward?) to a more resonable 60 -70km, last I knew.....

Those guys don't restore cars, They REBUILD them! LOL!

It took Ralph a while, to sell his 288GTO.........
