I can't believe this. One thing the article dosnt mention is that he has been UA form the Army forever now, And use to tell me that the Army was better then the Marines. I use to tell him that ARMY stood for Arent Ready for Marines Yet. He was in my 7th period class in high school and dated a girl I knew for years. He didnt do anything that bad really to deserve 90 years or anythign but fuk it. He was sure to do something worse as time progressed. I remember hearing about this from one of friends before it happened and I didnt belive it. And then on Thanksgiving I turned on the T.V. and saw stuff about him on it and I just thought "WTF I can't believe this, I just saw him and Duffy the day before and they looked pretty methed out" but I didn't think anything else of it. http://www.courierpress.com/ecp/news/article/0,1626,ECP_734_2851905,00.html and in case that link dosnt work.

A Warrick County man who admitted firing a gun inside a fast-food restaurant he was robbing has received a 90-year sentence.

Joshua Hudson, 21, of Chandler, Ind., who pleaded guilty to a Nov. 27, armed robbery in Newburgh and to a second robbery attempt, was handed an executed sentence of 65 years by Warrick Superior Court 1 Judge Keith Meier, who directed that Hudson serve the remainder on intensive supervised probation.
An accomplice of Hudson's in the robbery of the Newburgh Burger King pleaded guilty in that crime. Robert Nicholas Duffy II, 19, of Newburgh is scheduled to be sentenced Monday in Warrick Superior Court 2.

Hudson admitted firing four rounds from a rifle inside the Burger King, as well as his role in locking five employees in a walk-in freezer. He also admitted an attempt to rob the Circle S convenience store on Epworth Road, where he attempted to fire a gun and fled when the weapon misfired. Hudson also acknowledged drug and alcohol abuse prior to the holdups.

Henderson, Ky., and Warrick County officers arrested Hudson and Duffy on Thanksgiving Day at a Henderson hotel.

In a written statement, Warrick County Sheriff Marvin Heilman said Hudson "is a classic example of a young man that had plenty of opportunities in life to succeed, but chose to abuse drugs and do poorly through school."

The severe sentence, Heilman said, was justified in light of Hudson's severe actions.

90 yrs for a hold up with no-one injured? I'm not defending his actions , but that sentence seems severe. Is there a right of appeal?

No tears shed here since I have no sympathy for criminals, regardless of age. You can blame society or not being breast-fed by mommy for the cause of your acts, 'cuz I don't care. You do the crime, buster, you do the time. We should have taken back control of our streets and neighborhoods a long time ago...

On a side note, thanks for that ARMY acronym. I work next to a former drill instructor, who's an absolutely great guy. I'll have to tease him with that one today...

He will have the right to appeal the sentence. My guess is that he was sentenced for his multiple crimes with the term for each offense to run consecutively. First of all he committed an aggravated robbery which will get him a certain amount of time. There may also be other offenses included in the sentence which are not mentioned in the article. For example, depending on how the law is written in the jurisdiction of the offense, it is probable that he was also charged and convicted with kidnapping since he took employees from an open part of the store and locked them in another part of the store.

In addition, the judge probably took into account his previous record including his miltary indiscretions. Don't forget, he could be up for parole after serving a small portion of his sentence. This guy could be out on parole by the time he is 30 or 35 years old.

he deserves to do the 90 years, my best friends brother was shot and killed as he was locking the door of a convience store he was manager of, they were trying to rob him, now he is gone, over $50. That kid robbed places before and got out of jail, it was just bound to happen, anyone who threatens someones life because they are cool, need drugs, should be taught a lesson, if he is the example for other people thats great.

Boo-hoo...that was fair for what he did. Now if we could make criminals pay for their incarceration, that would be fair to the rest of us.

The problem with this sentence is it will not stop a criminal from doing a crime. History has proven that over an over again. But if a criminal knows he will get 90 years even without killing someone he may decide to kill because he has nothing left to lose.

It sure as h*ll will. - Him.

Lucky thing for him that he wasn't sentenced here where there is no parole - except that last long sleep on that table.

In Australia he would only have got months and been out in weeks. God knows what you have to do to get a REAL sentence in this country. You only get something like 15 years for murder ... and then there is the good behavious BS.

    Makes me sick!
