My car was originally owned by Prince Bernhard and I know his license plate was always "AA 13". Can anyone tell me the exact dimentions of a FRONT Dutch plate of that period and what its colors were (1967)?

Also can anyone tell me where I could have one made?

I plan to put one on my 330 GT.

    Thanks!

    Dan Reese

This one is difficult, currently we have 52x11cm and small ones 31x11cm (18.2, known as US plates over here) BUT the Dutch Royal Family could have had other sizes at that time. Maybe other Dutch fchatters know more about it.
There is an old ex Ferrari 500 superfast 1964 of the Royal family in a museum (http://www.louwmancollection.nl/asp/appmain.asp?appactie=collectieresultaat&merksq=1412&periode=5&taalcd=nl) maybe it still has the plates with correct size which you can duplicate. Normally all plates have a pressed stamping.

By the way, in the Netherlands the letter combination 'AA' at the beginning of the licence plate number is reserved exclusively for the Royal family. "AA 13" belonged to the late Prince Bernhard; this plate was on all his cars.

Have you checked this thread? Some close up pictures of what seems to be the original patina plate.

Found this company on the internet where you can order licence plates online. It's in dutch but you will be find contact info. Don't now them, just found the site with a search.
I expect it will be difficult to have the plates made without valid dutch registration papers.

    Good luck

Old Dutch license plates can still be made without any legal documents as long as you're not going to use them on the Dutch roads. Normal sized ones are relatively cheap (14 euro each) and can be made by any shop that's licensed to make license plates.
The only problem here is the correct size of the plate and the font. I've found a site which has more info but it's in Dutch as well and still hard to read the dimensions:

Tonight I'll see what it says about the plates used at the time of the 330 GT. Which year is it?

BTW not all Ferraris owned by Prince Bernhard were registered on AA-13.

    Best, Peter

The front plate is clearly an unusual size since it's a lot narrower. (normal plates would have two extra digits).
Also note the sign/markings above and below the hyphen.
Do you have old pictures of your car with the AA-13 plates and current pics? Would be nice to see.

I'm sorry but I couldn't find a conclusive source for the dimensions. The height is either 110 or 120mm. Maybe this picture that I took will help.

p.s. Isn't the owner of s/m 0725 on this forum? He has AA-13 plates on his car as well, maybe he knows the right dimensions and font.

I stand corrected on this one: while all cars registered "AA-13" were Prince Berhard's, not all his cars were registered as "AA-13"......

For the era we are looking at, I think it may have been a plate with separate plastic characters attached to it. I don't have pics of such plates, but they were commonly used.

    Everybody has it right somewhere.
Prince Bernhard had the right to use AA-13 as his private number, but all of his cars also had a regular registration number.
He could choose which one to use; it could be AA-13 one day on official business, the next day he could ue the regular number.
When his cars were sold, the had the original number.

The AA-13 plate shown here was certainly modified in the Palace Garages to a smaller size.

I cannot remember Prince Bernhard ever having a regular 330GT.....
