a litle trouble tightening stabiliser bar nuts

    WSM says the torque on those nylock nuts holding the front stabiliser bar mount to chassis should be 63 NM. I am having difficulty holding the bolt end of the bolt as the gap between bolt head and bracket is small and there is a lip on the bracket.

    Anyone have suggestions?

    My 1st thought is this an m10 bolt? I cannot remember and if I remember right it is like a welded stud the mount goes over and nut placed. I do not remember having access issues. Here is a quick chart to see if oem specs make sense. Welding without heat treating lowers the stud strength more. The studs on chassis are welded if i remember right. If you rip the stud off the chassis you have to weld a new one. Some diy guys lack welders at home.

    correction, they are M8 bolts. I just was able to get them off now. The washers underneath the bolt heads are now distorted. I will use new washers and torque to around 32 nm

    i checked threads with die and two bolts where I was trying for 63 nm have distorted threads where die stops about halfway on threaded section
    I will procure new bolts, I already have the nuts

    FYI the bolts, washers and nuts are stainless steel.

    If you're dealing with a tight spot, think about grabbing a good torque wrench with a flex head. It makes things a lot easier in cramped spaces.

    If the gap is super tight, throw on a crow's foot attachment on your torque wrench for some extra leverage. Also, a bit of anti-seize lubricant on the threads can help things go smoother and lower the chance of over-torquing.

    And if nothing seems to be working, consider going for a torque adapter with a regular socket wrench for better access.

    Anti-seize can actually increase your chance of over torque not lower it. People make this mistake on lug nuts all the time using anti-seize then going to torque. This put more torque to hit the torque spec because you lubed it. This can cause the stud to yield ruining it. The stud fails and wheel falls off.
