This should probably be posted under the vintage thread, but i think it is better suited here, under the 206/246 thread. Clearly, this forum is for Dino's. Last night, my latest Dino finally arrived. It isn't one of the more common Dino's. It is a recreation of a Dino 196s. The basis for this recreation, was supposedly 196s 0776. However, 0776 is a rhd car that has scoops on the front. I think it is actually based on the styling of 0740, a car that has since been lost. Is anyone familar with these recreations and their origins? Any additional info would be greatly appreciated. If anyone has used or been around one of these, please let me know. I am having one hell of a time trying to figure out how to turn on the headlights. That being said, this Dino is a hell of alot of fun. Beautiful car. Other cars in the garage aren't too shabby either. As for the headlights or other operational items with the car, can't you ask the previous owner? Or the place you bought it from? Who made the recreation? It looks fantastic! Enjoy
i have yet to be able to talk at length with the owner. iam sure i have stupidly overlooked something. yet, how can you overlook that much when there are only three buttons/switches?
you can never have too many dino's. well, actually....... i admit, i am a little obsessed, but these are great "little" cars. once you drive a dino, i can't believe you would ever walk away. they are fun and a little out of the ordinary.
Sorry, I can't comment on how to turn on your headlights, but I thought I'd point out that there are several clear photos of the car here for those who would like a better look at it: http://www.ferraris-online.com/pages/carintro.php?reqcardir=FE-196S-142536 By the way, I've always been curious as to how this car is titled. What year and make are on the title (if you don't mind, of course)?
the car is titled in california. the title is appropriate for a car that would be correct in terms of age and make.
Does it have a "nail" key? Isn't the headlight switch part of the ignition switch on the older competition cars? Seems to me that you have to push in the key to activate the lights, but I might be wrong.
it does have a "nail" key. after playing around with it, you were right. when the key is fully inserted and roated to the side, the lights come on. thanks for the help.
Beautiful! Amazing! Congratulations!!! Any chance that the headlights are operated by a foot swith, typically left of the clutch. If it was originally RHD the maybe the connection was not transferred or the swithch is still on the right. Just a thought. Congratulations again, driving that thing has be special. Maybe you can make a video and share the sound and fury with us.
