My 328 is still in the shop so I had an excuse. However... Friday afternnoon my wife , myself and four of our dogs packed up the X-5 and headed from Portland, ME to Troy, NY for the weekend. Now, I dread long trips (boring), but had it all worked up in my mind...three days of great weather + 1000 total miles of driving through four states = Ferrari sightings. I figure, if I can't drive my own, I'll at least enjoy seeing others driving theirs. Wrong. Saw 1 Yellow Lotus Esprit, 1 Red/Black Viper and about 5000 Corvettes..no Ferraris! Maine, NH, Mass and NY and not one! My disappointment was profound. Please tell me I was just travelling the wrong roads over the past three days and no one let their F-cars wallow in a dark garage during this great weather if they could help it!
My 308 was seen doing errands around this neck of the woods, I even got the evil eye from a State Trooper. Fortunately for me, I was approaching a stop light at 20 MPH when he saw me and not about 30 seconds earlier. The Mondial with the John B's loaner wheels even saw the light of day today! (It's not registered yet!) Birdman
Was surprised also yesterday when I drove for about 3 hours going up RT127 to Rockport then RT133 to RT1A back to Beverly and did not see one Ferrari or anything decent at all. If we our still planning that northshore drive RT127 roads suck but RT133 was good and the best being RT 1A from Ipswich down to Beverly, was very smooth with a few 50 MPH sections. Would rather drive 50 on those nice little scenic and curvy roads than 100+ on boring highway. What's funny is after this drive I stopped at Stop&Shop in Swampscott and as I am coming out I hear this amazing sound and look and see a beautiful Azurro California 360 Spider going thru the parking lot being driven by a Blond girl. So while all those Ferrari's were sitting at home this girl takes her's grocery shopping. Have seen this car before in Marblehead but don't think it's owned by anyone here.
I had my car (308) out on Sunday- first to Dunkin Donuts for breakfast, and then around Portland for a spin. It was a beautiful day in the low 60's- astonishing for Maine in early April. Pete D.-Do you live in/near Portland? PM if that's easier. Where are you getting your 328 worked on? Just curious if there is someone who works on these cars in the area. Thanks, Jwise
See it? I may have found my sugar mama. Just need to start hanging around up there a little more. Birdman - could you PM me that address again? I seem to have misplaced it and I deleted the original PM. Troy
There seems to be nothing in Maine for Ferrari's. Only the occasional 360, Testarossa or 308. And those are rare to see.
OK, my car is still in the shop (over a month now) but I hope to have it by the weekend. Two weeks have passed and I made yet another interstate trip from Portland, ME to Springfield, MA last Thurs and returned today. I know the weather sucked sat and sun, but thrus and fri were great. I did about 500 miles of driving thurs and fri and, again, saw no Ferraris. One red/black Lotus Esprit around Lowell, MA, but that was it!! Better than nothing, but still feel let down...Any one been out and about?
