Maybe someone can give me some suggestions. I replaced the coolant hose from the bleed valve to the radiator. I followed the instructions in the Work Shop Manual. I waited for the engine to cool, added coolant to the Expansion Tank and bleed the system until a stream of coolant came out. I then top off the Expansion Tank. I ran the car with the A/C on and topped of the Expansion Tank again after the engine cooled. I squeezed the new hose and it seems empty to me, but the Expansion Tank is full. The Coolant Temperature Gauge is in the normal range. Did I miss an important step or perform a task out of sequence? Does that hose just feel empty or is it full of air? Thanks
Marshall, when the engine is Cold and you open the bleeding valve coolant comes out? If it does so systeme is full. It is hard to believe you have so much air in the systeme and car is runing okay.
Hi Lazik, I did bleed it with the engine off and cold. It took more coolant in the expansion tank. Now I think the system is air free and topped off. The tank was half full so I ran to autoparts store for more. I buy another gallon of coolant and head out to the car and there is coolant running out of the bottom of the car. I pop the hood and carefully open the expansion tank cap and the tank is empty. I crawl under the car and its dripping aft of the oil pan behind the cross strut and underneath the radiator. I pour the entire gallon into the tank, I bought 2 more gallons and filled the tank with another half a gallon and head home with my hair on fire. I carefully watch the instruments for any over heating. The coolant temperature never exceed 190c. The oil temperature was normal and pressure was slightly high under power on the way home. I get home and the expansion tank is empty and I removed the bleed value and there is no coolant I can see, so I can't tell how much coolant is left in the motor. I am calling a tow truck tomorrow. Marshall
Do not drive the car and do not waste more coolant putting into it. In a situation like this the tempreture gauge shows big swings. Use pressure tester and find the source for leakage and solve the problems.
