yesterday i was running my 328 (admittedly over 140, but just for a teensy bit, so please avoid the public enemy comments) and when i decelerated to make an exit ramp, i heard a popping noise and then what seemed to be a misfiring cylinder...upon checking the engine i noticed that one of the spark plug wires had come loose and was shorting on the engine...now here is the strange part...when i tried to reattach the wire to the spark plug, it wouldn't stay in place...a quick examination showed that the tip of the spark plug had broken off and was still in the end of the ignition wire...neither i or my local dealer, miller motors, had ever heard of this happening before...

has anyone out there ever had this happen, and does anyone know what could have caused it?..

Any word on the cause of the spark plug problem?
Do you miss the 600+ HP modified twin turbo you got rid of?
Will your race car be ready for this season?

the dealership is baffled also...seems they never saw anything like it either...the metal top connector just parted ways with the ceramic stem...

as for the monster turbo, i only miss it when i am racing something really fast...otherwise it was close to undrivable, and largely unmissed...

the new race car is going to the powder coaters today...yee haa

I have seen it a few time (when I worked as a mechanic on big engine) most common were champion plugs, seemed like they were a ceramic defect at the factory, you get what you pay for I guess. Engines create serious vibrations at high RPM

In over 20 years of racing Ducatis and porkers I found that a lot hard start, high rev misses and tunning problems could be solved be leaving the champions on the shelf and twisting in the NGKs. The one exception was the early bevel drive 900s. They ran best on champion L88s. (strange) Mike
