It's been a little over two years since starting a bare metal body and interior redo and this weekend was the first outing again as a (for the most part) complete car!

My wife while very patient is glad the garage won't smell like paint all the time now!

It sure felt good to drive it and it ran even better than I remembered.

Still have to carpet the trunk and color sand/buff the paint, but it's almost there.

BTW, all the comments about Leatherique being a good product are true. It was great to work with, quite forgiving to apply (sprayed mine) and the results were excellent.

You did a fantastic looking job. I'm amazed. The colors are great too by the way, and that's what I'd pick if ordering new. Looks excellent.

It really is; I'm looking for the same thing (Pozzi/beige) in a 430.

And yes, where is the restoration/before-after thread for this car? I would love to see it.

    Thanks for the compliments!

It has been a LOT of fun and I owe a bunch of you and this forum THANKS for the information and guidance posted here. The reference available on this site is just amazing!

Here are a few pics of the day I picked it up and a some from the past 2 years. It had small dents, door dings in just about every panel and those ungainly rivet on aftermarket side moldings. They all hammered out pretty well and the rivet holes from the side moldings were welded closed so there is very little filler in it. It's good I don't do this for a living as it took approximately 100 hours in priming and blocking the body prior to painting. It's probably just that I'm slow, but figured it's better to put the time in it now than not liking it later.

BTW, I took a ton of pics as things came apart so I could remember how to put it back together .... :). If anyone has a need for pics of anything GT4, I'd be glad to fwd anything.

I'd be interested in seeing what your interior looked like before you refurbished it. It sure is beautiful now.

I wish I had taken more pics of it prior. It looked nice in the photos but in person, you could not miss that it had been dyed once before with a lacquer based dye which had filled many of the sew lines and "puddled" in some areas near the piping. It had also cracked quite a bit in the rear seat and bottoms of the fronts and was smeared on the headrest struts and bezels.

Here's a few from before, two of the rear seat after being stripped of all the dye with thinner, and a couple from after the leatherique dye process.

It was interesting to see the bare hides and the variances in their natural color. It was sure easy to tell where things had been spilled on it in a previous life.............. :)
