    So sorry to hear about your Mom's death. Diabetes and Alzheimer are both terrible diseases that need to be cured. Diabetes killed my Mother when I was seventeen and that was such a very long time ago and I still miss her much.

    Seeing as all the funeral arrangements have been made, and all that is left is the wake, the mourning....and the healing, I figure it's time to thank you all:

    Russian M3 Dude...I'm humbled and grateful that you were the first one to respond. Perhaps my mom is in the house of God...or riding around on the "Pink Unicorn" ;) . Nonetheless...thanks bro.

    PeterS: Indeed, mothers are our conrnerstones...ever more so for us Italian boys. We got a real soft spot for "Mamma". However, I never took her for granted, especially after I almost lost her in 2001.

    PapaG, noel, Wardhog...thanks guys. I guess that now I'm part of that brotherhood of motherless boys. Even at 39...it still hurts. Diabetes and Alzheimer are awful diseases. Alzheimer is particularily brutal since the family goes through two wakes; the first when all of the memory is robbed, the second, the actual physical passing. I consider myself lucky, since she was stuck in Phase 2 and still remembered our names.

    Goose, junathart, Bruce, Aj & Yasir.....and the rest (sorry guys, it's a little hard to focus and name everyone when you haven't had sleep in 36 hours), my undying thanks to all of you.

    It sure will not be easy. Just as I had a soft spot for her...she too had an extra soft spot for me, given that I was her last born, hence, her "baby". She would light up everytime I went by the house. And being a fierecly proud Italian...you can imagine how she glowed when I bought and showed up in the red car. Sadly, I was able to only give her one ride, since her already failing health made it hard for her to get in and out of the car.

    At the moment, the thought of her cuts me down to tears. But, the moment her memory will give me that "warm fuzzy feeling" that's when I know I'll have made peace with her passing.

    Ya know, I don't know what you believe in but no matter what you do believe in your mother has influenced your life so much that whatever you do, you will always 'be' her in one form or another. I'm very sorry for your loss, but always keep in mind that your personality and mind would be completely different without her in your life.

    :( May she rest in peace.
