    The countach styling ranks as one of the most aggressive automobile designs ever-
    When I see a Diablo, I believe people think- "oh man- that car looks awesome, I bet it hauls a$$".
    When people see the Countach it commands their respect- They KNOW it hauls a$$, they know its rare, They know its brutal,
    they know its built for one purpose.

    I get the same feeling when comparing the F40 to the F50 and even the Enzo. We all know they
    progressively got "better" but that F40.. it means business.

    Am I making since? :)

    By the way, the countach, hands down , my favorite car of all time never to be eclipsed. followed closely by the
    original Vector w8 and the stunning Miura.

    The Countach will always have that awesome wild appeal, although the Diablo is beautiful in its own way it looks more reserved than the Crazy Countach.

    Sorry...but IMHO they are both ugly, looking more like space-ships rather then a work of art (ie:any F-Car)

    I think the Original Countach and LP400's were some of the most extreme examples of automotive art. They took the Supercar to the extreme edge. Think about how long ago the Countach was shown and how to this day if you see one, the reaction it gets.

    Come on now, are you serious?? How can you say both of those lambo's are ugly?

    I love ferraris and lambos and all exotics, and there are some I dont like like the countach, but in no means is it ugly.

    Then again I guess everyone has their own opinion.


    For the rest of you on this tread, thank you for allowing me to voice my opinion regarding the countach. Such open mindedness makes this board a great place.

    However I think it is a bit harsh to throw words like "ugly" around.

    Agreed. I know the design of the car is classic and stunning. I cannot
    fathom what it would have been "like" to drive this car in the late 1970's.

    To Allen and LA Fun...aren't I entitled to my opinion? I have never liked either of the 2 subjects, but I will say that the Murc is an improvement. If it wasn't for accepting others opinions, surely you wouldn't be on a Ferrari site...

    Of course you are entitled to your opinion. I apologize if I caused you any offense. I know many people don't like many kind of cars, and that is acceptable. Otherwise we would live a very boring world. When you called it "ugly" I thought that was a bit unfair.

    However, after thinking of the situation, I stand corrected. My apologies.

    Re: the Lambo clutch job. Would it be possible for you to put together a photo essay to post here on the clutch change on the Countach as you go? I think that would be quite interesting.

    If that car has been fully restored ... somebody ripped somebody off big time. While I appreciate that cars that sit (especially in a leaky barn) will not weather very well, this car is in very poor condition. If it was not a Lambo Countach we would be saying, er, aren't you going to tidy that piece of **** up, etc.

    Look at the grease all over the chassis, look at the rust in that panel (and everywhere).

    You will have to atleast get the steam cleaner on her and tidy up that disgraceful engine bay ... and I think Chrysler owes somebody a refund ;)

    Tell me this is not an example of Lambo build quality :(, because I have seen kit cars put together better than that.

    Well..Unfortunatly what you see is what you get. I'm the only guy since Lambo restored the car to take it apart like this. During the removal process I noticed alot of nuts and washers and blots missing. Heck there were 4 nut's missing gor the transmission studs!! I called the owner of the car and he was not to happy.

    Before I took the thing apart I fired up the car. It was running very well but I noticed a leak from the right side rad. It was a brand new rad and it's now leaking from the seam. Again..owner not to happy.

    The car really looks horriable in the pic's I know. But really the car is just very dusty and needs a good steam clean as you said. The oil stains on the lower drive unit are a result of a cv joint flange mounting gasket leaking,and spraying the c.v grease all around the lower part of the frame.

    I will have to admit though..the build quality of this car is terriable. Really not worth the buck they used to ask for these things. Ferrari is a much more though out car then these things are. Why couldn't they make the engine drop out the bottom? Why did they design the thing so the engine has to come out to do the clutch? Pain in the butt if you ask me.

    If I were to ever own one of these cars it would have to be a carb model. There is no way I would want to play with one of these just for fun!! Just to much work involved for a part that wears out ver fequently if your not careful.

    The Diablo is much easier to work on then these Countach's are. More room in the engnie bay and the full pull is not as difficult. But still you have to remove the engine to change the clutch. Bummer.
