In the F1 period from 1980-2000, can anyone tell me what Nelson Piquet and Michael Schumacher have in common (other than the fact each has won at least 3 WC)?

Though one. The only thing I could think of is that they got their breaks/discoveries through the hand of German sports car manufacturers: Lord Nelson via BMW and MS via Mercedes.

Obviously there must be a better commonality than that.

So am I; I was hoping you could tell me.... ;)

Piquet and Schumacher are the only drivers to win the WDC between 1980-2000 not driving either a Williams or McLaren.

    Piquet-1981 & 1983 Brabham (87 did drive a Williams)
    Schumey-1994, 1995 Benetton, 2000 Ferrari

I was shocked when I read that.
