It is indeed. I think we here in the vintage section predicted this two years ago if I recall. Big demographic shift and a lot of metal will need to be moved. My best friend had a health scare last year and almost unloaded some very nice cars. Thank god he got his health back and is doing well.
Given the current economic time I would have to guess at a sell price of under $10M. What does everyone else think?
What a line up! RM added a third night, has several hundred cars I believe. Even muscle car Mecum with it's TDF is scoring Ferraris. Will be fun to watch the results for sure... Geno
Gooding and Co have just announced the addition of a McLaren F1 road car to their auction: I'm not sure if their full description will expand on all the details, but this particular F1 has an interesting twist to its history which I'd be glad to share with anyone who might have a need to know. It's also been out of Ellison's collection since May 2006. >8^) ER
Do you think the fact that so many super high end cars coming to auction at once would have an impact on their values?
None of them seem to be completely nailed down yet. Here's what is available online at the moment: RM Auctions Monterey 2010 Gooding & Company - Monterey 2010 Preview Mecum - Monterey 2010 Russo & Steele - Monterey 2010 Bonhams - Monterey 2010 Seems like I could even be forgetting one? >8^) ER

To quote an observation I made on another site: based on Monterey auction history, the only guarantee we have is that someone is sure to spend $35,000 on a BMW Isetta.
With a bit of inside knowledge, I would state the estimates on the BB/LM are likely spot on... maybe a bit high on the high side but no reserve at RM means no reserve. Whatever the final bid is, the car is not going back to Chicago but onto a new and hopefully enthusiastic home. Hope someone is paying attention as that is one very special machine. Wish I could have made the sale but we went to market two years too late with it. Cheers, Bill
There are 2 cars there that would really make Jim's collection unbelievably amazing, ie. the Mk1 GT40 and the 917 Porsche. Or is the 917 a little too modern for Jim's road use option? Pete
