the X-Al Holbert "CRC/RED ROOF INN" sponsored 83G March/Porsche GTP car that won the Daytona 24Hr race under the "KREEPY KRAULY" Livery in 1984. Was trying to get a feel for the market on this car.
Jim, Fun..Fun.. One of my goals in life is to do the baja 1000.. I am going to start looking for a bug..
That certainly took me by surprise (and few others here I'm sure), but with that provenence, it all makes sense. Time to go trail blazing in the Pine Barrens! Enjoy!
It was a good deal at around 50,000. I forget the exact price. Bidding was stalled at 40k for a long time , it looked like it was going to sell at that price.
Lot 43 - 1956 Stanguellini 1100 Bialbero Sport - $200,000 Lot 54 - 1966 Ford GT40 Mk I - $1,400,000 Lot 4 - 1981 Aston Martin V8 Volante - $55,000 (estimate was $80k-120k) Catalog listing: http://www.goodingco.com/auction/product.g&c?pid=137 Out of 74 lots that crossed the block at Gooding I counted 20 'No Sales'. >8^) ER
Wow. Not even a Veloce and it's up that high? Giulietta Spider's sure have taken notice over the past ten years. But then, by the standards of their contemporary Porsche 356's, they've lagged a bit I suppose. Makes one wonder if the four-cylinder British roadsters will soon follow.
Yep, and I have a really nice 750 Veloce street car and a 750 Veloce race car. It's about time. They drive better than the German cars and MUCH better than the Brit products.
Gooding's Sunday sale has started - watch it live here: http://www.goodingco.com/auction/auction.g&c If the first lot is any indication, it may be a long night for David: 1966 Chevrolet Corvette 427/425 HP Roadster - finished at $97,500 on a pre-sale estimate of $140,000-$160,000 Someone get me Lot #2 - Lamborghini Islero EDIT: Islero was no sale at $110,000 >8^) ER
Hasn't sold yet - it's lot #146 and they are on #118. I'm betting on it finishing around $2.8M if there is enough interest. >8^) ER
I believe it went for $3.25 million. Given a lot of soft prices and unsold cars, that one was the one big surprise of the night, to me. Could the F1 be the "new GTO"? The SWB SEFAC hotrod went for $5.5 or $5.55 I think. Low estimate of $6 million (to $8) but that struck me as high. Will be interesting to hear the experts' take!
