Just joined up when I came across the site here... I lurked for about 30 minutes or so and thought I should join and make an intro for myself

My name is Shannon... I don't have a Ferrari but have a love and passion for the "prancing horse," as well as other exoctic cars from Europe as well. I have always wanted to look at a Ferrari up close and personal but still to this day have never had the chance... and I'm nearly 31 years old. The closest came almost two years ago when myself and another friend were in the downtown area of where I live and saw a white 550 Maranello parked along the curb, with no owner in sight I practically freaked out when I saw it and he was like "what's that?" as he wasn't a lover of European cars such as that

I've always wanted just to look at Ferrari's or other similar exotics but never given the opportunity to do so. I have known a "friend of a friend" that owns those types of cars and have asked just to be able to come look at them and talk cars for a bit and I was always looked at as if I were crazy or something. I suppose they always thought I was just some "kid" that wanted to put his fingers all over the cars and do something to them maybe. That thought never crossed my mind... some people are strange I guess. Hopefully as friendly as this community is perhaps some guys somewhat close won't mind me coming by or meeting me just so I can have a look at an "Italian Stallion"

I do have the car bug in me as well... I drive an 03 Mustang Cobra Convertible that is somewhat modified and which I have done all the work on myself. It's just your average, bolt-on car with some suspension modifications... I'm willing to talk about it or anything else car related to anyone that wants to "chew the fat" with me

Hope to be involved here when I can... maybe one of these days I'll be able to own an F-car sometime :D

Try posting in the North & South Carolina thread and network with the folks in your area - go to some of the local events - and remember, at one point, we were all "first time Ferrari buyers".

Welcome! I did a lot of reading on this site before I joined, and then took a while to buy my Ferrari late last year. Now I can't imagine my garage without at least 1 Ferrari in it.

If you're ever "stuck" out here in San Diego, let me know.

    Welcome Shannon.

Remember, no car is "just" a car if that is your pride and joy.

If you are ever out here in Ventura, CA we can take my 308 out for some excercise.

Shannon, welcome... You certainly sound captivated by the same thing that has drawn the rest of us here...

A few hours' drive in virtually any direction from where you are will yield Ferrari sightings... Go to Foreign Cars Italia, Danny and Lawrence are cool folk; check out Wade's Auto Corsa, Wade is a really nice guy... Check out Steve Barney's Sport Auto, Steve is among the truest of Ferrari enthusiasts...

I don't know where Hickory, NC is, but a drive to near-DC will pay off when you hit Ferrari of Washington... There are so many places to go to see the cars you love... There's a whole world out there; don't let it keep hiding from you...

I dont know where Hickory is either, but the key to everything is location, location, location.

I grew up in a small town in Mississippi and it was a very rare thing for me to see a Ferrari either. My outlets were looking through the car magazines at the local news stand.

Through this site, in only the last month, I have managed to find people less than twenty minutes from where I live now who are bonified Tifosi. I will travel next week back to the US and hopefully will meet even more Ferrari fans...those plans are in the works right now!!!! Virtually everyone on here has been extremely nice, even more knowledgeable, and loves to talk about Ferraris.

So, welcome from one newbie to another!!!

WOW... just simply WOW! I really can't think of any other thing to say other than that... I guess I'm just speechless right now. I thank you all for the warm welcome I have recieved... I looked at the thread early this morning and I had some views at the point but no replies. I was hoping that some of the stereotypes of Ferrari owners wasn't true (looking down on people that don't have one) and I'm so glad that there are many of you here willing to let me see the cars or just talk about cars in general.

I will say that my first and foremost love is Mustangs... as that's what I've owned 1/3rd of my life now. But I have always been drawn towards the Prancing Horse that you all love. Ferrari's are amazing cars to me and I hate that I've never been able to have the "experience" with one up until now. I remember back in 87 when the F40 first came out... I was 12 years old at the time and I seem to recall reading anything and everything that I could on that car. "Street legal race car" I remember them saying about it back in the day. A few years later (right before I got my license) on a trip to Florida to go to Disney World I bought a 1/24th scale die cast metal replica of the F40. I still have it to this day on my desk :D

As my best friend tells me I'm just a car nut... and I can talk about them all day long she says. It doesn't matter if it's a 60's model muscle car to the later day Ferrari's or any other exoctic... I can talk about them all day long :)

Thank you very much for the offer Wade... I'll be sure to take you up on that soon ;) Peter can most certainly come by as well and we can all get together and talk about whatever :) I'll probably wait until I can get the Cobra back together before I come up that way... I'd hate to come up there sorta "empty handed" and not let you, or Peter see what is my passion is so to speak. I know it might just be another Mustang more or less but I seem to think you guys would enjoy seeing what the "mild manner street car" has lurking under it's skin. The transmission is out right now for a rebuild due to me managing to gernade the T56 that came in it :( I should have it up and running in the next few weeks I hope.

Thanks again for all the warm welcomes.

    Shannon,

From one Mustang (and Ferrari) fan to another, welcome! I purchased a Ferrari from a private owner from North Carolina and have chatted with a couple NC Ferrari F-Chatters; all seem like great people.

Sounds like you'll be doing more than looking at a Ferrari pretty soon – the generous response to your post was really cool to see; impressive everybody!

(Re: my photo; I know that Ford never made a Boss 351 Convertible, but humor me. It's an ex-drag racer with a full roll cage and reinforced chassis. Was raced extensively in Indiana back in the day. 4-speed converted to 5-speed Tremac. Built Boss 351 engine, period Crager mags.)

(But as fun as the car is, it has actually never occurred to me to search for a Mustang Chat...)

    Cheers!

    Shannon,
No worries, I love cars and other cars and other cars and most all cars. Ferrari is just my passion and my weakness. I have been very fortunate to be able to play with these cars every day. Give me a couple days advanced notice and I will set up an automotive experience you will never forget. It will not be only Ferrari and will be facinating to say the least.

Not sure what you favorite model of Ferrari is (maybe F40 from your previous post) right now we have in the shop.

    Daytona coupe
    Daytona spider
    355 spider
    360 spider
    308 GTS
    Mondial T cab
    Testarossa
    250 GTE

So let us know when your car is back together and we can all go play.

Anybody who uses a quote from "All Apologies" as a signature deserves whatever they ask for! Yeah, the windows are tinted. Here's a not-too-great shot of the interior I found.

My own apologies for the velour-esque upholstery. Previous owner installed it as a way to have black seats that don't get hot in the summer when the top's down. And it works! (Think I'll do my 250 Spyder California in velour.) Anyway, it's a fun car!

    (Sorry for the highjack Shannon.)

Now that sounds like a plan for sure :) Wade I can't tell you thank you enough for being so kind to let me look at high end exotic cars. If you'll take me for a ride in one of them that would be icing on the cake. I like other European exotics as well (Lamborghini, Lotus, TVR, Pagani (sp?)) so whatever else you have thought of I'm sure I'll be thrilled to see as well :D

Asking what my favorite Ferrari is would be like asking me what my favorite Mustang is... there are just *too many* good ones. A short list for me (in no particular order):

308 GTS (Magnum PI style :p)
288 GTO (have a die-cast of this one in Rossa Red)
    F40
    512M
    550 Maranello
    360 Modena
    F355
F430 (would really love to see the F1 gearbox in action)

And Pen... no worries about the hijack ;) You're right they never made a Boss 351 convertible... but I'll be 100% honest and say you've done a damn good enough job at pulling off a clone :D If I didn't know that they didn't make any convertible Boss cars you'd never be able to convince me that yours wasn't the real McCoy ;)

And who makes a "drag car" out of the convertible? I mean... who'd do such a thing anyway :p *Shannon whistling looking around innocently KNOWING full well there's a 700 horsepower convertible of his sitting in the garage*

And since you mentioned it... I'll list my favorite Mustangs for you, again in no particular order:

    69 Boss 429
    70 Boss 302
    71 Boss 351
    67 GT 289 K-Code
    67 Shelby GT350
    68 Shelby GT500 KR
    69 Mach 1 428 SCJ (Drag Pak)
86 Mustang SVO (owned two of these cars)
    95 Cobra R
    00 Cobra R
03 Cobra (owns one of these)

Thanks again for the welcome guys :)
