Upon my return from Scottsdale my family informs me that the Krispy Kreme in West Palm Beach has closed. I think we should all reflect on how this impacts our lives in South Florida. One of my favorite ways to start the weekend is now kaput. :( On the other hand, I have the filet marinating now and it will be tasty tomorrow. Are there any good alternatives to the Krispy Kreme?
    In sorrow,

This is so sad. My sympathy.

You can always drive to Boca, that KK is alive and frying at Palmetto and I-95.

When the one on Palm Beach Lakes Blvd opened, our company had a donut eating contest. We even tried to get Jimmy Buffett, one of the owners to come as an emcee but he was out of town.

To qualify you had to be one of the first 10 people to eat a dozen dozens.
One guy I work with ate a dozen in 3 minutes and the closest person after that was at about 8 minutes..

I made it into the top ten and we had to see how many we could eat in 15 minutes. I ate about 16 and started getting full. The guy who ate the dozen in 3 minutes tied with another guy at 24 each, so they had an eat off to see who could eat three first. The guy who ate the ones the fastest could only eat one and the other guy won.

Needless to say, my mouth was all sticky and it tasted like I just ate a jug full of paste.

I tried to see if we could have a beer drinking contest when the Yard House opened in the Downtown Mall, but the company wouldnt go for it.
    :(

That one is actually my first KK experience. It is an older place about two miles east of the Speedway on the north side of the road. I will never forget that, early the morning of the Daytona 500. A warm sweet KK glazed donut.
